Tired of being treated like we are less than a nurse because we are not RNs!!

So I dont mean to beat this dead hoorifice again. But I am getting so tierd of the RN vs LPN. Its driving me crazy.

The grammar error in the title of the thread adds some unintended irony. (I agree with the sentiment, though)

Always remember, no one can make you feel that way if you don't let them. You are a nurse, you went to nursing school, you passed your boards, which gave you the title of....................:yes: Licensed Practical............NURSE! Now, smile on your face, shoulders back, go get them NURSE!

Unfortunately, this is probably never going to change. I have struggled with this from time to time as well, but what I tell myself is that I am just as much a nurse as any. I earned my title; I am not an RN, I am an LPN. I am a different kind of nurse than an RN, but a nurse all the same. I am a very educated person, and am proud of where I am in my career and in my life. Don't let other people's opinions get to you-that goes for anything in life.

It used to really drive me crazy too. I've been told by many different people

(nurses and non-nurses alike) that I was not a ''real'' nurse, and that I was a

''glorified aide''. It really used to bother me, and motivated me to go back to

RN school. ;)

Try not to let it get to you, although I know it can be very difficult to hear

this type of criticism. You are licensed to practice nursing. As far as the

state is concerned, you are a nurse. It doesn't matter what anyone else

thinks.

You are a nurse! We are the cream of the crop and when I become an RN I would never talk bad about us I am proud LVN

Regardless of your credentials, I betcha you're the person they all turn to when they need a 'nurse'.

That's not true. LPN stands for Little Pretend Nurse or Low Paid Nurse.

People are such jerks screw ppl and their bs ways I could have sworn my credentials where Licensed Practical NURSE could be wrong tho -__- but I could have sworn I went to NURSING school not nursing assisting or patient care tech school could be wrong tho...but still I could have sworn I took and passed the NCLEX ( The National Council Licensure Examination) & i could have sworn its a standardized exam given by each states board of nursing used in order to determine if RN or LPN candidates are competent for entry-level NURSING practice....could be wrong tho -__-

My brother in law said something similar to me after I graduated, passed our national exam and was working.

My reply: can you deliver a baby, hold the hand of someone that is dying, know when to hold Lasix, treat an allergic reaction to an IV antibiotic? No? Well this NURSE can.

He backed off, especially when he found out how much I earn.

My hospital has RNs and LPNs that work together...but often the lpns are treated like aides and some don't respect our nursing judgement....even had another RN from a different unit ask me where my patient's "nurse" was.....I was like HELLO I a nurse too!!!
