Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA

Published

I am interested to hear anyones experience in endorsing their license into CA. I used the online endorsement as well as the livescan fingerprinting. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Thanks for the tip! Went back into my Breeze registration and my application says pending.

Yes you can. But you won't be able to track a license until you're payment is processed. When it is processed you will create an account and add a license. Once you add your license type, it will show up.

I thought I would post my progress with my CA endorsement application too:

Oct 20 - mailed complete application overnight by UPS to CA BON. Submitted Nursys verification and transcripts.

Oct 21 - opened Breeze account on CA BON web site

Nov 18 - check cleared from bank.

Nov 19 - License Status pending, Deficiency: Education history missing

Now the wait for temp or permanent license - whichever comes first right! Will call CA-BON after Thanksgiving if education is still deficient.

Am scheduled to start travel RN contract Dec 21st.

How do I see my pending license on Breeze? I have the account made and I know my papers are currently being processed and my check cashed but my breeze account says "No license information available." Are you supposed to add your license in and if so, how? Thanks!

On the left side of your breeze account you have to select your license type and it will show the status for that license whenever you log in. Mine shows status for both temporary license and permanent license.

Hi, sharing my timeline:

Oct 26: complete application received by BRN via USPS. Ordered transcripts from schools attended and paid for Nursys verification.

Nov 23: check was cashed

Nov 29: I created my Breeze account and added my license

Now the waiting game begins. I applied for a temporary as well and hoping that I receive my temp license by December. I heard that they are rolling out the 2nd phase of Breeze and the deadline for apps was Nov 23rd (to avoid any more delays)

Good for you PuppyluvRN! Right on time then! Thank you for the info on the second phase of Breeze I did not know that but glad to have sent everything in! Good luck!

I barely made it, haha. Thanks and good luck to you too!

Awesome thank you so much @happyful. When I created my account I apparently didn't put in that license information to pull it up.

You're welcome @ hrngiesey! My licenses have had status "pending" with no deficiencies listed since Nov 20. I tried to call the CA BON to find out if this means any day now my license will appear but kept being sent to voice mail :-(

@ PuppyluvRN are you going to do travel nursing in California? I myself am starting a contract right before Christmas in California

This is so frustrating...so I received a letter the other day that was sent on November 18th stating:

"The California Board of Registered Nursing has completed a review of your endorsement application and determined the following item(s) are required to complete an evaluation of your file: If you have already addressed the item(s) below, disregard this letter. Please allow a minumum of four weeks for the processing for the receipt and processing of documents.

>Transcript(s) reflecting completion of: Social Sciences, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Obstetric Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, and Geriatric Nursing. If we do not receive the item(s) listed above within on year from the date of this letter, your application will be considered abandoned and you will need to reapply to the Board for licensure."

So my earlier timeline:

August 29: Lifescan done in San Jose, California

August 31: Mailed all application materials, including transcript requests from my nursing school and university where I got my psych degree.

September 4: Application received according to return receipt.

September 29: Check for application cashed.

November 27: Received the aforementioned letter.

So I called the California Board of Nursing and spoke with a gentleman and explained that the course breakdown of my program didn't have specific classes and that we had a final grade each semester that determined whether we could continue in the program or not (80% above required for each and final semester). He informed me that they have new evaluators that are supposed to look up the school curriculum for each school when evaluating transcripts and they didn't in my case. So he said he would make a notation and it will probably take another 4 weeks or so before they can go back and look at it again but I will get a call or email regarding my status.

He also informed me that I might not meet the requirements for Social Sciences despite having a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a soon to be Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and might have to take more classes just to meet that requirement -_-

I have to say I am pretty POed and am wondering if going out to Cali is even worth all of this. I've never had to jump through this many hoops to get a nursing license by endorsement in another state before. Their BON seems completely dysfunctional.

But anyway that's my update. Oh well back to sleep (yes I work nights and had to get up specifically in the middle of the day to deal with this lol)

@Happyful I'm already in CA. Los Angeles to be exact. My family is here so I am trying to get a job here
