Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA
Finally got my CA RN temporary license this morning! Total time 6 weeks from Breeze date. All the best to everyone else that is still waiting and thank you to previous posts very helpful for my process. Here is my updated timeline for my endorsement process - hope it helps someone: Oct 20 - mailed complete application overnight by UPS to CA BRN. Submitted Nursys verification and official transcripts Oct 21 - opened Breeze account on CA BRN web site Nov 10 - Breeze date assigned to application Nov 18 - check cleared bank Nov 19 - License status pending with Education History deficiency Nov 20 - License status pending with no deficiencies Dec 1 - 14 checked in with CA BRN on license status - informed EVERYTHING received awaiting fingerprint results from DOJ & FBI. Used back-door number that gets answered after one ring no hold time. Dec 18 - informed fingerprint results are in but no NURSYS verification received....... Huh??? Told to contact NURSYS. Filed complaint at Consumer Affairs. Unable to reach a live body at NURSYS. Dec 21 - finally able to reach a live person at NURSYS who confirms verification was sent. Provided phone number of manager at CA BRN for NURSYS rep to call. Dec 21 - 30 mins after call to NURSYS temporary license appears. Consumer Affairs calls me to follow up and to let me know temp license has been issued. Stay on top of them and be firm!!! If I had not kept calling I would not have found out someone screwed up and my NURSYS verification was not on file - nothing was sent in the mail to this effect. When I asked what has everyone else been looking at when they told me they had everything - no one knew..... I was even told they would not get to review my file for another couple of weeks but i insisted on working with a manager to get my temp license endorsed immediately and not a day later.

New Graduate nurse moving to Denver
I don't know much about Colorado but where I live Trauma hospitals seem to like brand new grads so I would look into that too and be flexible with what dept you start off then track into your desired specialty once in the door.

Planning to go back to school for RN, what school's do you suggest?
Make sure that whatever school you end up choosing is BOTH nationally AND regionally accredited. The BON's will let you take NCLEX exam with degree from nationally accredited programs - however you won't be able to transfer your credits to other schools to further your education until that school also gets regionally accredited - at which point you may or may not be grandfathered in if you have already graduated.

Any outpatient RNs?
I currently work in an outpatient setting and make a tad bit more than bedside nursing. Big difference is the hours - I went from 3 X 12hr shifts / week to a 5 weekday schedule. Sometimes we go home early once cases are done but not too often. I'm also on call 1 weekend per month and one week night every two weeks. What outpatient setting are you thinking of getting into? Are you a brand new nurse or experienced nurse? I am doing Interventional Radiology. I love getting off work at a decent hour and all my body aches that I had in bedside nursing are gone. It's been a struggle though being at work so many days and off only 2 when I was used to having 4 days off on a full time schedule. Hope this kinda helps.

Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA
Reading earlier posts in this thread and it looks like endorsing a CA license to another state is equally traumatic if not more since they don't use Nursys verification. So while waiting for my CA license to make its grand appearance I am going ahead and applying for licenses in the rest of the other states on my to travel someday list so I don't have to pay California BRN tons of money only to wait about 5 months for verification.

Starmickey13 congrats! That was very wise of you to apply for your license long before your actual move!

Yes, I called them early this week too and they said they are waiting on my fingerprint results from the DOJ. I'm supposed to start my travel assignment in a week my recruiter said if my license is not out they will postpone week by week until it comes out. I made the foolish move to buy my air ticket last week though :-)

Confused
@ NurseLexx - Anytime a recruiter is evasive about money don't waste any more time with them - drop them and keep looking at other agencies. Go with a travel agency and recruiter that will offer you a specific contract - location, exact hourly pay, overtime pay, holiday pay, terms of company housing (does it come out of your pay yes or no?), stipends, sign on bonus, completion bonus, penalties, travel and incidentals reimbursement etc. All these should be in typed out document that is easy to understand and your signature becomes your commitment to the contract. Again, watch the money - if its clear as mud and raises questions in you slam the door and keep digging.

@ Jasel I read your post and bolted home from work at almost break neck speed to check my mail just to make sure I didn't have anything missing because my license status has been "pending" for 10 days. Nothing in the mail. I had been calling the CA BON for a week and going to voice mail :-( Finally this evening was able to speak to a live body and they said they are waiting on my fingerprint results from the DOJ to check back in a week which will be 4 weeks from Breeze date. I would be POed too if I was you! Other forum members seem to have got positive results from filing complaints when their CA license application met unnecessary road blocks. I would try that - Might as well get something for your troubles!

You're welcome @ hrngiesey! My licenses have had status "pending" with no deficiencies listed since Nov 20. I tried to call the CA BON to find out if this means any day now my license will appear but kept being sent to voice mail :-(
