  1. I work in a MICU/SICU and once had a pt walk into the unit to thank me for caring for him. I was amazed to see my once intubated, very difficult to sedate pt walk and tell me he was going home. I have grown to love critical care and cannot imagine doing any other kind of bedside nursing. It's so nice when you know you've found your niche!

Hi, I am a nurse working in a med/surg and cardiac ICU. Do you have any tips on taking the CCRN? My goal is to take it early this year. Thanks
  3. One of the hospitals was interviewing for periop last march and they hired a traveller which means there might be a position there for you! Best of luck
  4. Hi! I applied in October of last year and was actually already working in another hospital when the county called me to schedule for the exam last March. So about 5 months from application to testing. After I took the test, after 2 weeks nurse recruiters from the 3 county hospitals started calling me for an interview. The recruiters actually called me first before I got my notification in the mail that I passed lol. It took about 1.5 months from me accepting the job offer to actually starting. It is a very long process but very worth it! The benefits are the best you can find, the pay is good, and the employees love to teach. I couldn't ask for more. Good luck!
  5. Hi, I recently accepted a position at an LA county hospital and just got cleared for my live scan and physical exam. Occupational health informed me that I have been cleared, and I am just waiting on HR to contact me. I've heard varying lengths of time in regards to HR contacting new hires for their start date. Just wondering what the hiring process was like for those who are currently working in the county. I am excited to start!
  6. Thanks for all of your input! I accepted ICU and will let the other hospital know. Either way I am so excited to start! :)
  7. Hi, I applied and got 2 offers from 2 different hospitals that are in the same hospital system. One is in a tele floor at their main hospital (600 beds) while the other is in an icu at their sister hospital (400 beds). The main hospital is 1.5 hrs away from me with traffic. The campus is gorgeous and I have long dreamt about working there. The sister hospital is 13 mins away from me with no traffic. I am so grateful for the offers and have long desired to work for any of these hospitals. I just need help in deciding which direction to go! I am currently working in tele by the way. Thank you for your input!
  8. Hi all, I currently work 3 nights/week at a hospital and I do enjoy my job and love how challenging it is. My hospital has plenty of opportunities and incentives for picking up extra shifts and the pay is good; however, I have been looking for a part time (2x week) job at a med spa because I get 4 nights off and I was looking for a part time job where I can be more productive on my days off. I believe it is also a low stress, more fun environment, and a good variation to my hospital job. My question is how would one handle the constant change in sleep schedule? I would work straight 3 nights at the hospital, get a night or 2 off, and then go to the part time job. I don't have any problems staying up at night as I am naturally a night owl. I do get tired during the day on my days off. Thanks for your advice :)
  9. I'm interested in applying as well. But not til next year probably
  10. @Happyful thank you! What part of California are you moving to? If you will be in LA, we probably will run into each other! :)
  11. Oh man, I hope yours comes out soon! Did you apply for temp? I just got my temp license today!!!
  12. I called them early this week, they said to call in another 3.5 weeks. My app status just says pending on the breeze site now. Have you spoken with them?
  13. Knowing how complicated the BRN can be, I would call them just to be sure. If you call and your call gets dropped, just keep calling until you get ahold of a live person. The lady I spoke with was very nice.
  14. @Happyful I'm already in CA. Los Angeles to be exact. My family is here so I am trying to get a job here
  15. I barely made it, haha. Thanks and good luck to you too!
