I am interested to hear anyones experience in endorsing their license into CA. I used the online endorsement as well as the livescan fingerprinting. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
You already got an offer? When you gonna start to work at CA?
No, I don't think it makes sense to even apply for a position without a CA license. I cannot be hired until I have one, even if I do currently hold a license in another State. With how slow the CA BON is, I doubt that prospective employers will hold a position for weeks or months for me, even if I was qualified. A friend of mine just did a similar relocation, and her experience was that employers would not even look at her applications without a CA license. Now, of course I could be wrong and I would think that this is also a totally different scenario for travel nurses. How about you, are you already looking/ having a job offer?

It's same here, wait for the license then take some action. No job yet, hope next year maybe able to sell house here then move there.
Once you are logged in click on "update profile" tab, then "add license." It will ask you to select license or application type via drop down bars. Enter DOB and last 4 digits of social security number. If you are in the system an "applications" section appears on the bottom left with "view application status" option underneath.
Thank you ! I had no idea how to do this either. My timeline:
April - mailed application
May - waited
June - check cashed
July - fingerprints one and two
Aug - called - was told a few weeks ago everything is peachy, just waiting for my FBI name check as my fingerprints were yet again unreadable
Sept - just got a letter stating I have missing educational requirements like oral communication and micro
Guess I will be shelling out yet more money. While I was waiting for the CA license I was able to apply for and receive my Oregon, Washington and Texas licenses. I'm heading off to Washington for a travel assignment now. I'm glad I don't have to depend on CA for my income!
I'm joining the CA license wait group. I mailed in my application on August 14. They cashed my check on September 4th. I called the Dept of Consumer Affairs and the lady told me that if they get an application and everything is legit and looks like it's going to go through then they won't even bother issuing a temp license. They only issue temp licenses to give you time to fix whatever is wrong on your application. She said my application looks good but since I did finger cards and not live scan, it's going to take 8-10 weeks for my background check to come back. She actually told me that had I done live scan she could've called somewhere and given me a license number that same day. But I'm literally on the other side of the country in NJ. I'm not taking off from my current job and flying across the country for 30 seconds of finger printing. Oh well. At least I won't be sitting around wondering what the hold up is. She said I can expect a permanent license in roughly that time frame because everything else is cleared. I counted 10 weeks from September 4th and marked it on my calendar. I WILL be calling them back if my license number isn't posted by then!

Perfexion, did the lady you talk to actually look up your application in the computer with your application number? Did she explain a bit more about what number you would have been able to call and receive a license the same day?! (If so, I'll grab my phone right now!) The reason why I ask is because when I called a few days after my check cleared and I received my application number, the lady I talked to looked up my application number and said it was not even in the system yet. She said that it can take at least 2 weeks from the time the check is cleared for the envelope with the application paperwork to make it to somebody's desk who will actually physically take out the application paperwork (other than grab the check) and look if everything is complete and start working on it. I am comparing experiences in this forever-lasting process. The same lady also told me that the Breeze status is not always accurate. I get the impression they are not too happy with the Breeze software over at the BON just yet.. Oh, and no update whatsoever yet on my application process, for those who have seen my previous posts..
Just wanted to share my timeline:
-Everything was submitted July 26th
-Check was processed August 13th
-Got an email from Breeze August 19th to confirm my information online
-Breeze online confirms my processing date as August 12th, status pending with no deficiencies noted
-Called the 800-number today, September 15th, after seeing no further progress. The lady who answered said that my fingerprint cards were accepted and verified on 9/8. She also said that I should expect to wait at least 4 more weeks, if not longer.
*sigh* I'm having to push back the start date on a travel assignment I'm trying to go for so I can be sure I'll have my license in time! I wish it wasn't so complicated!

Sorry to hear about the deficiencies. CA is very selective regarding education requirements. I wasn't fully aware about how deep the BRN looks into non-nursing, general education requirements until they asked me for more transcripts. I'm a second degree BSN, many of my general education courses are spread out across numerous universities, some dating back twenty years. I had originally sent them my nursing school and nursing prerequisite course transcripts, but I learned via phone that they have a list of 7-9 specific general education courses that are required for endorsement, and thus needed to see my other transcripts. Although they mention general education courses on the application, it does not specify which specific courses are required.
I'm glad that you have other options to pursue, I'm basically relying on CA since we already relocated here.

She did look up my info and she told me the same thing, that nothing was in the system yet. I'm still going by the time line she gave me though. After the 10 weeks I'm going to be calling them and harassing them more often. Although there is a traveler at my job who was issued a license number approximately 4 weeks after her check was cashiered (I think 7 weeks wait time all together from the time she mailed her application), so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I don't have a job lined up but Lord knows I'm itching to travel out to California before winter comes to NJ.

Turned my application in the beginning of July even and no change in my "pending" status as of today. It is very frustrating.
