Tidewater Community College - Spring 2016 Applicants

U.S.A. Virginia

Published

Hello all! It's a little early, but I wanted to make a new thread for all those applying this summer for TCC's Spring program! I dropped off my application this past Tuesday and am already ready for October 15th to hurry up and get here, lol!

I called, "Well, if you don't hear anything by Wed, call again"

Yes, that is what it was for me as well. Regarding the insurance...

@stl0813

- I would take BIO 150 because I believe micro is necessary for the associate's degree. With that being said, I am taking chemistry 111 this semester to go towards the BSN, but I took micro over the summer and had that final grade when I applied to the RN program.

- I still had A&P 2 and PHI 226 left when I applied, and I am taking them this semester. All of the other prerequisites were complete.

- I would say yes, try to study as much as you can for the HESI because they told us at the mandatory information session I attended that the HESI was the most important element with respect to the point system (please verify that though as I do not want to be giving out incorrect information or information that might not be applicable to future cohorts because of changes made to admissions requirements).

- I took a CNA course thinking that completion of the course and/or getting work experience as a CNA might help my application. At the information session, we were told being a CNA or EMT or paramedic does not count in the point system when reviewing applications (again, please verify that this is true at the information session you attend).

- I would definitely take A&P 1 before taking the HESI, but that is just my opinion!! I got 89% on the HESI, and I had not yet taken A&P 2.

I would go to the nursing office

I wen there today & they were sitting right in front of the phones!!! Good luck you!

Does anyone know what our schedule will be for cohort 4?

ugh I'm dying to start lol

I was looking at the schedule for the 2016 Spring semester for NUR 108, since that will be the only course we will be taking that semester. It looks like we are in lecture Monday and Wednesday 8-11. Then, we have late Monday and Wednesday 11-2 and Tuesday and Thursday 8-2. The letter we got said that our class starts March 14.

Here is the link I used. Select Nursing, then NUR 108, and it will bring up the options for you. We are in cohort 4, so you want the 2nd 8 weeks. Hope this helps. I can't wait to start too.

I meant to say to @stl0813 at the end of that very long post good luck to you!!! :):)

Awesome congrats. Happy for you

I got in to cohort 4 and would love to change to 3 if possible! You should call and ask and maybe we can trade!

Just find someone to switch with yoy and let them know. It's usually not an issue

I have to ask, how many of you have made it into the program with a B in BIO141? I am in the process of deciding if I should retake it in the spring to shoot for that A. I have All A's and B's in my prereq's leading up to A&P I. I am super nervous since I am at the end of my pre req trip, before applying for the nursing program for fall of 2016. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I got in with a C in BIO 141. I got A's and B's in the other prerequisites except BIO 142, which I am currently taking. Good luck!

Thank you!! I have really been going back and forth with this, racking my brain on what to do. I am just over taking pre-reqs and really want to apply for the program. Its been a long time working for it!
