Tidewater Community College Fall 2018

Hello all fellow applicants for TCC's Fall Semester 2018!

I have been scouring the most recent TCC post, and the latest applicants have been offered their seats in the program, woohoo!!! As a result, I have decided to post a new thread for the next round of applications.

Just curious, will anyone be a resident of Virginia for only a short time before applying? I will be moving in December and I was wondering if my measly two month-long residency will hold up as well against someone who has been a resident of Virginia for over a year.

Happy application cycle! :) Hope to see some of you someday soon.

I think having all your prerequisites and a bachelors should help. I know they weigh the hesi exam heavily I don't personally know anyone who's gotten in with less than an 80 but I only know 1 person in the program so my knowledge on that is limited.

It's possible that the cohort has a lower Hesi average. Enrollment is down so maybe the competition will be less competitive.

Oh I didn't know enrollment was down.

It's a big problem. Enrollment is down across the country. TCC has had layoffs. Unemployment is so low, many people have jobs. There is less of a drive to go back to school.

Enrollment is down compared to last year or two ? Or just in general?

Yes to all of those questions. There are articles in the pilot and online discussing how TCC is dealing with declining enrollment and budget cuts.

Hi Everyone!

I applied for the Fall 2018 cohort as well. I have my Lifespan Psych but am nervous about not having my Intro to Psych yet. Has everyone taken it? I was planning on clepping out of it before Fall start date if it's necessary to have before program begins...

Yeah it was a fairly easy class when I took it

Yes I have it. Easy A. Take it online if you can

I wasnt aware enrollment was down either. Hopefully that will better our chances. Jill I also agree that you will have a decent chance. I talked to a lot of people in the program and majority of them said a lot of things were looked over due to them having bachelor degrees. Keep the faith.. Positive thoughts!!

Hi everyone, bad news!!! My friend was just back from the Nursing information session yesterday. She was told that they are only going to accept about 30 students for this Fall semester. and the Hesi score for this Fall is 81.7%. Hope she was wrong lol.
