Tidewater Community College Fall 2018

Hello all fellow applicants for TCC's Fall Semester 2018!

I have been scouring the most recent TCC post, and the latest applicants have been offered their seats in the program, woohoo!!! As a result, I have decided to post a new thread for the next round of applications.

Just curious, will anyone be a resident of Virginia for only a short time before applying? I will be moving in December and I was wondering if my measly two month-long residency will hold up as well against someone who has been a resident of Virginia for over a year.

Happy application cycle! :) Hope to see some of you someday soon.

Nyja, Where did you read about the "concept based curriculum" from? Did say that students would teaching themselves? That would be terrible!

https://allnurses.com/nursing-student-assistance/our-nursing-class-120828.html I think the idea is for the teaching style to be more interactive, which is great. I just feel nervous about being the first. If you search concept based curriculum on this site, a few threads will pop up.

If it is just more interactive then that is great! I was concerned because I do not want to be responsible for teaching myself material with other classmate like you mentioned in your comment. Did that for Ochem in undergrad, it was not very effective.

Two more weeks!!!

I was just thinking that! I wonder if the letters will be mailed on that Friday or Monday since the 15th falls on a Sunday

When I applied last cohort the 15th was a Sunday and I had the letter by Tuesday so I think they mail them on Friday! But it might be different each time.

Oh ok thanks I really hope it's that fast

The waiting is killing me, I applied for the Lpn to Rn bridge

Hey guys, I also applied for fall 2018 and am just now reading these posts. I went to the info session in February and they said 64 spots for 2 cohorts so I'm confused where that 30 spots came from. It seems unfair for them to change their minds. I'm thinking that 30 spots was for the Spring cohort because the info session was a mandatory part of the application and since for the fall it was due in February, everyone attending after would be applying for the Spring cohort or next year's fall. Does this make sense?? Just had a mini-panic attack so I hope I'm right with this.

HEY everyone! I'm getting anxious and excited about finding out! Does anyone else have a hard time feeling excited about getting in because of the student debt that will be hanging over our heads?? Lol. I mean, I'm stoked but I think "ok, how will I pay for the car/rent/bills. Hmm. Lol.

I heard a lot of nursing students work as CNAs because of the flexibility. Many jobs are used to working with students. It could help with expenses. Im more nervous about the grueling 2 years of hard work ahead. Listening to nursing students on YouTube has made me more anxious than excited.

Agreed I'm more concerned with the workload.
