thomas jefferson bsn program, drexel, or villnova??!?

Hey everyone! I am new to this site, however I have been looking through posts for a couple months now. I am currently finishing my second year at community college. I applied to TJU, , and Villanova for Fall of 2015. I would start at TJU as a junior and at Nova and Drexel I would be transferring in as a sophmore( I have all of the academic classes completed, but these two schools start clinicals sophmore year). I have been accepted to TJU and Drexel for fall 2015 and I should be hearing from Villanova this week. I am so torn between which school I should go to. Has anyone else applied to any of these programs? Also if anyone is currently in any of these programs or has completed one of these programs it would be helpful to hear how you like it. I love the co-op part of Drexels program, however it is VERY pricey and I have heard some negative things about the program. I have also heard that getting the required 950 on the hesi has been difficult for many students, which scares me. I have always loved TJU's program but they do not offer a co-op or guarantee an internship. It would be great to chat with some people that are in a similar situation or have applied to one of these programs. I need to give Jefferson a deposit within 2 weeks and I am having such a hard time deciding.

I have been accepted into TJU and too. Which program would you be transferring into at Drexel?

I would be transferring into the 4 year 1 co-op program, but I would be starting as a sophmore. I have already completed all of the academic classes for my BSN so I would just be doing the nursing courses and clinicals. I will technically be a junior when I start, but since starts clinicals soph year so I have to start there. Which program would you be doing at Drexel? Im assuming you are transferring too if you applied to TJU? Congrats on being accepted by the way! :)

Also, did you apply to any other schools?

I can only speak for one. I went to TJU and LOVED IT!! I highly rec. the 2 year traditional BSN program. As for others Ive heard good things from each program as well

I only applied to and Jeff. I am leaning towards attending Jeff based on my interactions with university staff and alumni feedback. If I do attend Drexel, I would be transferring into the 2 year no co-op option. It is a new program that currently only has one student! If I go to Jeff, I would be attending the traditional prelicensure BSN program. Let me know where you decide on attending. Maybe we will end up in the same class!

NaomiBd- I am literally torn as to what school to pick. I am waiting to hear a decision from nova but they require religion classes and I really don't want to do extra classes at this point. I went to the accepted nursing students day at , but I have not toured Jeff yet. Did you talk to students there? Can you tell me a little bit more about why specifically you are leaning towards Jeff?

nurseylove- Thanks so much for your input! I have talked to a few people from Jeff and I've only heard amazing things about the program. Could you answer a few questions for me?

-Firstly, does TJU require you to talk an exit HESI before sitting for the nclex? If so, what is the required score needed? I know Drexel requires a 950 and I have heard this has been difficult for a lot of students, which scares me.

-Where did you do your clinicals at?

-How were your professors for nursing courses? Were they helpful/friendly?

- How does financial aid/scholarships work there? I go a pretty big scholarship to Drexel, but when I talked to someone from TJU they said scholarships are not awarded until right before classes start. Meaning, I would have to commit there without knowing what kind of financial help I would be getting. Also, do they give financial aid? I will be relying on aid/scholarships/loans and I don't want to graduate with too much debt.

Thank you so much and congrats on finishing the program!!!:)

Carebear91- do you know how to send private messages? If so, send me one so that I can respond with the details that led me to choose Jeff over . Maybe it is the browser that I using, but I am not able to initiate new messages.

NaomiBd- I am also not allowed to send pm's! I think you need to have made a certain amount of posts before you are able to. If you want you can email me at [email protected]

Let me know once you see this so I can delete this post because I don't want my person email on here!!

Saw your post!

TJU doesn't use HESI. We do Kaplan prep tests throughout the year for 5% or 10% of our grade in some classes. Then we do a final Kaplan test at the end of the year that you do have to pass. You get a lot of prep before the test to help you pass.

Thank you futurebsn25 for clarifying that! Do you need a certain score on the final Kaplan or is it more just a pass or fail type thing? Also, it seems like you are currently in the program right now, so if you don't mind answering a few questions?

-do you like the program?

-do you know anything about financial aid and scholarships? TJU was the only school I've heard of that doesn't award scholarships with the acceptance letter. I will be relying on at least getting some financial aid, so I'm just curious how that whole process goes.
