This week, I learned.... (7/25)

This week, I have learned....

1. Meth is a hell of a drug.

2. When meth is combined with cocaine and booze, it can destroy a 28 year old heart.

3. When you have one random patient across the unit from your other patients, and that patient is the only patient without psych issues, that poor patient is unfortunately going to be a bit neglected.

4. A discharge with EMS transport, ICU transfer and admission happening simultaneously (literally all less than 5 minutes apart from one another) 2 hours before you're supposed to be giving report means you'll be giving report before your last round of (very late) meds will be given.

5. Never been happier for vacation time. (Today is day 4/15.)

6. All play and no work makes ixchel a very happy girl. :)

That's all I got this week! Not much to learn when all I've been doing is playing! :)

What have you learned this week?

I learned that after 15 hours in the OR, I feel like I've been hit by a bus. And kind of wish I had been so I could have gone home sooner:D

Tell me more!!

Tell me more!!

Just a VERY busy day! I love my job and can't imagine being anywhere other than the OR. My body just hurts now. And my feet. I think it may be time for some new shoes.

I learned that some patients really do appreciate the little things. Saturday had a septic, sick as snot guy go up to the unit on dopamine. He was quite scared and anxious. We got to talking and discovered he is a fan of the singer Sarah Brightman. So I sang a little bit. Today from his med surg room he called the operator to give me a message. I went up to see him. He's so sweet. But he told me how much my care meant to him. Made my day.

My first warning was for calling someone a turd.

My first warning was saying the posters name in my post. I was told I was calling her out and attacking her. Lol

You must have a heck of a voice if you can sing Sarah Brightman songs. Nobody would be thanking me if I tried to sing her stuff, that's for sure.

Sing for us now! Please?

This week I learned that I may have bitten off a bit more than I can chew with 2 jobs, school, family stuff (parents and kids, I'm the filling of my family sandwich!)

I've also learned that the murder of a lion by an entitled idiot can make me cry. Hard.

For some reason, on my floor I work with idiots who think if the flexiseal won't stay in place, they need to fill the balloon more. :( Poor rectums.

I'm learning this week that my darling spouse will tell you absolutely everything about everything relating to American history, whether he actually knows what he's talking about or not. He will also flip out if you correct him. Good times.

Btw - I'm not working this week, which means I'm really not able to contribute a "what I learned" thread this week and have it be nursing related (probably necessary to keep the thread on the yellow side). Any of you want to start Saturday's thread for me?

Mine aren't always nursing related since I'm not currently working. But I'm sure someone will start it for you. :)
