this is not right! i work with this nurse who gets her school term papers written for her by co-workers. this nurse is an lpn in an associate degree program. this is the same the school i graduated from. one time she asked me if i could help her with one of her papers on schizophrenia, i told her i couldn't but gave her a paper i had written in school on depression years ago to use as an example. i gave her other papers that i were well written to follow the format. but it is obvious that she is not using them. for some of our co-workers, they write the papers for her.on saturday night, i watched a co-worker handed her a five page term paper. she did not hide it from me, she said "thank god i have some good friends to help me out". this is not the first time. i really feel it is very wrong but do not want to say anything. these are the big kahunas of the unit helping her out. they have been there for donkey years and have never experience nursing in any other place. this lady is always bringing them special foods and drinks.

should i say anything or just keep my lips zipped?.:nono::nono::nono::nono::nono::nono:

See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil............:uhoh21:

Do you have concrete proof she's cheating? You say you saw people hand her 5 pags term papers, but you did the same thing yourself. Maybe they are giving her their old papers to use as an example?

It is easy to jump to conlusions on things like this. I know it is frustrating to think someone would cut corners instead of doing things themselves. I would keep my nose out of it unless I had concrete proof.

There are some that get over and others that don't. Unfair? Sure...but that is how it is, sometimes. She'll learn that no one owes her anything soon enough and it will show in her work.

Unfortunately, some people don't learn and keep getting away with unscrupulous actions throughout their careers, and get rich. Just look at Wall Street elitists, corrupt politicians and their cronies, CEOs of hospitals who get rich on the backs of overworked nurses.

No, there isn't always justice in this life...

Will avoid the paticulars of the rights and wrongs of this situation. It is more a matter or prudence in my mind. She is doing a very poor job of preparing for boards and her, "friends". are doing little to truly help her. They are all playing an imprudent game but such is the nature of the human animal. I have heard it said," You can avoid reality but cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality". Perhaps someone should write a paper for her on the dynamics of group think.

Is it possible that the other nurses were just editing or proofreading for her? There's been plenty of times that I've done something like that for the people I work with. And for someone who hasn't written a paper in years and years, having someone to do that for them could certainly elicit a "such good friends" comment.

When you see something that is not right better to report it than to look the other way. This is the most ethical thing to do. This person has integrity issues that are not likely to change. Are we better off with dishonest nurses? I'd ask myself. Find out what school she goes to then anonymously send a letter to the nursing dept and report the behavior. At least it will alert them to keep an eye out for her. People have reported me in the distant past for things I've done wrong and I never got mad at them because my thought always was, 'I screwed up. Should've known better'. I'm surprised that nurses here are saying turn the other cheek. This is not the policy at my workplace. There is a duty to report. Things can get out of hand.

I don't think the suggestions are so much to turn the other cheek, but to proceed with caution. Jumping to conclusions and reporting that she's cheating, when it may turn out these people are proofreading or offering example papers, could cause a world of trouble.

I hope the OP does investigate and make sure she's right before she makes accusations.

If the issue were a matter of patient care or somebody's life were at stake, this would be different. I say in that situation it is better to act first, ask questions later. But in academia, there is no reason to smear her name and call her a cheater without being sure. She could get kicked out of school for cheating. Just be sure of what you are doing before you cause trouble.

I agree with op who are suggesting that you tread lightly. I can't imagine someone actually doing someone's paper for them. Until you know all of the circumstances, you can assume to yourself, but turning her in without full knowledge would be wrong. She alone has to pass her boards.

Maybe she just isn't a paper writer. We have no idea if someone typed her work for her or what is really going on. You gave her your paper for guidance and maybe others are doing this as well. There is no way I would ever write a paper for a student. When I'm finished, I never want to write another paper again. Now, if someone had trouble putting their research into proper form, I would be more than willing to help. I love to write, but I wouldn't do the sweat work for another and don't know many people that would.

I have a friend who wrote all of her husbands papers for him. He is now an electrician. We both attended the same school and I was struggling and he was pulling A's on his papers. I had to come to the conclusion that we all have our struggles and things will come back to us.

Don't you just hate it when people put you in a spot you would really rather not be in? UGH!!!

Why would the poster be making this up???

She/He specifically stated in their post that the LPN asked if she could help her with a schizophrenic topic paper and was rejected but told they could give her some notes on depression that she could follow and she turned that offer down because she wanted some person to do it for her probably at a dollar amt. People will do her papers for money easily. Money talks. I doubt very seriously these are accusations. This poster is right on the money about this.

I really don't think it was suggested the poster was making this up. It hasn't been stated that anything was done for the almighty dollar.

I think it was meant to be sure that cheating was actually done. There is no proof of that stated other than the passing of the paper. Seeing as the poster is not a student, it really is necessary to be sure of your facts and have proof before destroying another persons future job.

Show me where is was "specifically stated" that she wanted someone to do it for a dollar amt.

Get your facts straight. And I never said she was making it up. I said that she needs to make sure she is certain that cheating is going on before she reports it. This could damage the other student's reputation and possibly get her kicked out of school. Jumping to conclusions is not a good idea.
