QuoteThe abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

It doesn't say why specifically Maine parents were directed to register at federal offices. My guess is one more chainsaw cut that had to be hastily cleaned up.
You know, like nuclear workers or air traffic controllers.
I think DOGE is actually finding out that some government services are actually needed and necessary. Imagine that?

That's an interesting finding and Yale is obviously a renowned institution. I like that your article points out some of the faults in that it's a very small study, not published and peer reviewed and doesn't prove anything. It's just one of those things that needs more time and research. We do need to answer the question what are the long-term effects of covid vaccination.
It would be interesting to find out what those that had vaccine injuries have in common and maybe a screening process might be established rather than a blanket recommendation.
It also would be interesting to see some measurements of t-cell and immunity on people such as myself that has received five or more jabs without injury that I know of, to see if it's only a specific population of people or all of us. I got covid and the flu in 2021 but have avoided it since then (both ran rampant here this year) and have been jabbed annually for both. Come October of this year I'll have my annual discussion on whether to get vaccinated again or not. On the one hand I haven't been sick in four years and on the other hand is it because of my good immune system and lifestyle, dumb luck, or vaccination or a combo of all.

It's hard to know that we can do nothing about an unelected billionaire and his team of tech programmers and hackers looking for and shutting government programs or missions that they don't agree with. It's especially annoying to realize that they have no clue what these programs do, they are making these decisions by searching for key words in the department data trees.
Just obscenely unconstitutional and ignorant.
Good news on the Fentanyl deaths rates.
QuoteThe deadliest phase of the street fentanyl crisis appears to have ended, as drug deaths continue to drop at an unprecedented pace. For the first time, all 50 states and the District of Columbia have now seen at least some recovery.
A new analysis of U.S. overdose data conducted by researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill also found that the decline in deaths began much earlier than once understood, suggesting improvements may be sustainable.

QuoteOn Monday morning Polish Prime Minister Tusk, without specifying who or what he was referring to, wrote on X: "True leadership means respect for partners and allies.
"Even for the smaller and weaker ones. Never arrogance. Dear friends, think about it."
Wise words.
Poland and US exchange words after Musk for some reason bragged that if he turned off Starlink internet Ukraine would lose the war.

Crock of feces. This started as an internet rumor. Yes, Yale did a study which hasn't passed peer review yet and that study indicated no such thing. As Berenson usually does, he takes a little nugget of truth and perverts in an a way that bends to his beliefs but has no confirmation in research. Yale is making absolutely no response to the truth of what this nutjob says. Read the study.

This is interesting. The fact that Kennedy is reviving the ridiculous theory that there is a link between childhood vaccination and autisim is frustrating at best.
It took allot of effort to put that fallacy to rest. A theory by an overzealous Dr that couldnt accept his theory was not supported by evidence. Child vaccination is the primary determinant of the drop in child mortality rates after vaccination.
Where as the small pox outbreak is concerning, and there isn't concrete evidence to suggest that vaccine hesitantly is to blame, due to Kenedy's agenda,; putting doubts in the parents heads regarding these proven safe interventions will see an increase in infectious . Not impressed.
QuoteSecretary of State Marco Rubio linked to a story about Khalil's arrest and wrote the administration would be revoking the visas or green cards of Hamas supporters so that they can be deported.
I'm trying other make sense of this. I think there are many people that support Palestine and not Israel, but to call them a "Hamas supporter" or a terrorist is wrong. I also think that going after student protestors, especially those with legal status, violates the idea of a nation where the freedom to protest is American 101.
Also it goes against their idea of departing criminals and illegal undocumented persons and making the border safe.
Make it make sense.

QuoteAt 83 years old, Sanders is not running for president again. But the stooped and silver-haired democratic socialist has emerged as a leader of the resistance to Donald Trump's second presidency. In tearing into Trump's seizure of power and warning about the consequences of firing tens of thousands of government workers, Sanders is bucking the wishes of those who want Democrats to focus on the price of eggs or "roll over and play dead.”
I guess the question is how long and how much of a downturn are we willing to take for the great good of bringing wealth to America. (Trump re-truthed a post about "shut up about egg prices" and how giddy Democrats were about the high cost of eggs. I don't think we're giddy but it was Trump and Vance themselves that focused on the high price of eggs in the campaign and that didn't age well with them, as Democrats are pointing out.)
QuoteThe economy has already given some signals of weakening, mostly through surveys showing increased pessimism. And a widely followed collection of real-time indicators compiled by the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta suggests the U.S. economy may already be shrinking.
Asked over the weekend whether he was expecting a recession in 2025, Trump told Fox News Channel: "I hate to predict things like that. There is a period of transition because what we're doing is very big. We're bringing wealth back to America. That's a big thing.” He then added, "It takes a little time. It takes a little time.”

It makes sense if you examine it from the perspective that this administration's ideology is based in fascism and not democracy. Clearly, neither Musk nor Trump believe that the people's representatives should be making decisions about money or policy or institutional missions. They believe that they, and a handful of others who answer to them, should make all of the decision. That is what the evidence points to.
They are liars who manipulate their targeted audience with falsehoods and fabrications. No lie is seemingly too silly for the devoted followers to swallow without question.
It's great that Trump gas lights the public about freedom of speech while he limits and punishes freedom of speech that he doesn't like.

It all makes sense. Being a 50's baby I just didn't remember getting one until I was in school. Don't know when it started to be required to claim a child as a dependent for taxes. I don't need to do a deep dive, but my own childhood confused the matter in my head.
