THIS is what bugs me

Just irritated that teachers parade into my office announcing there is a "stomach bug" going around - makes me cringe. I want to send an informative email telling them that vomiting could be from any number of things and not just a "stomach bug". I just Dr. Googled causes for vomiting - here is the list that may prove my point:

Nausea and vomiting may occur separately or together. Common causes include:

Other possible causes of nausea and vomiting include:

Y'all are cracking me up.

But if I had a dollar for every kid that told me, "I just threw up in my mouth," I could retire a wealthy woman right now.

I hate that saying with a purple passion. :arghh:

Now this is funny . . . I had a dream last night about Thanksgiving and a whole bunch of people who were not invited showed up and one couple were sick with nausea and vomiting and my oldest son, who is immuno-compromised said, "you guys came to Thanksgiving sick last year and got us all sick! Why don't you stay home??".

Of course, the dream isn't true. But still . . .:barf02:

This totally happened to me one year! I spent Christmas Eve with my family and my daughter (2 1/2 at the time) ended up vomiting at the end of the day. Took her home right away and she kept puking all night. Husband ended up getting it the next day and then me. Turns out it was norovirus and my sister and her family had had it AND DIDN'T TELL ANYONE BUT SHOWED UP TO CHRISTMAS ANYWAY!!! I was so mad! We ended up missing Christmas with my in laws because we were all sick.

I always like to point out that I am exposed to sick kids all day long and rarely get sick. It is called "wash your hands people, wash them good and wash them often."

Obviously, that is too highly technical of medical info for them to understand.....

I used this logic when discussing with teachers how lice don't fly. I would tell them I check for lice all day and have magically never gotten lice.

Oh and you just reminded me of a time when I took my two teenage boys on a mission trip to Mexico. One of the families who came along brought their 3 year old who was sick with norovirus and didn't either leave him home or just stay home themselves. The mom was the cook.

Members starting getting sick quickly and THAT was when we were told they brought along their sick kid. Norovirus spreads quickly. We all eventually got it.

My poor father-in-law who came along was in his 80's. We gave it to the people who let us stay at their home.

I got it too and it is such a bad virus that I remember thinking "Someone kill me".

Leave your sick children home.

Here is what bugs me. Teacher sends kid for head lice check; she's been scratching. I find a few, one dead and one sluggish; call and discuss with Grandma, she says she treated last night. Send kid back to class. Five minutes later kid comes back with her coat on and her backpack. Whaaa? Send her back to class with a note, neither confirming nor denying her suspicions...kiddo is NOT going home!
