Okay if you just took the nclex and are freaking out, about to puke your guts up, can't eat, sleep, think, going to the bathroom a lot more often, maybe telling yourself you are an idiot and you can't believe you just blew it?! Well that was me 48 hours ago all the way up until 1:30 yesterday. We have quick result here in Ohio and I finished my test at 11:30 on the 8th and my "licensed" results were posted to the board around 1:30 on the 9th. I SERIOUSLY thought I blew it and I am normally an optimist. I wanted to quit the test or start guessing or yell at somebody b/c I thought it was ridiculous. I had like three med questions of drugs I had NEVER heard of. Then total I think I had like 10 new format questions. Three fill in the blank and 7 check all that apply which were harder than heck. Then my math problems were confusing and I figured they would be easy! Every question seemed to have 2 right answer and it was like a 50/50 evertyime! It was pure torcher. I was pretty sure I got maybe 10 right for sure. When the computer shut off at 82 questions I thought yup that's it, it thinks I'm really stupid and there goes my dreams I couldn't even look at the administrators when I was leaving, I was shaking so bad I couldn't put the key in the locker, dropped my purse, and held my breath while trying not to cry all the way out to the parking lot. I could see my heart pounding through my shirt. MAJOR anxiety. When I got onto the main highway I put my sunglasses on and allowed the tears to flow and flow and flow! Then I felt relieved but sick at my stomach just b/c I KNEW I flunked. I seriously don't know how I passed. They say the minimum number of ?'s you get the better off you are. Well yea as long as you got the harder ones right or at least quite a few of them. Then I figured I just got them wrong so it shut off so soon. Turns out I must have done pretty okay b/c it took me about 2 hours and I had 82 questions. So I guess the # of ?'s does determine in a sense pass or fail b/c the computer can make its mind up on your few answered b/c you are doing well or you are "iffy" so it keeps going. Either way it works with you which is a good thing. So if you get a lot of ?'s don't freak out it's probably just waiting for you to get to a passing poing b/c it wants you to be a nurse :wink2: So if you are getting ready or just took the nclex, calm down, breathe, do something nice for yourself. If you made it through nursing school and have the desire to be a nurse then you will be fine. If by chance you are too, too nervous (I was) or maybe just not a good test taker, give it another shot if you truly want to be a nurse DONT give up and you will be there. So good luck to all of you and be sure to be the best nurse that you can be and don't take your license for granted :wink2: Bye
So, you think you failed the NCLEX? I did too...in fact, I was positive I did! I took the NCLEX-PN Tues. Oct. 11, 2005. This is an actual journal entry I wrote yesterday (OCT. 18)...
That test was the worst test I have ever taking in my life! I walked into the testing center feeling somewhat confident, but my palms were sweating and my mouth was dry. I sat down to take the test...my heart beating fast, and my poor hands shaking like crazy. I tried so hard to concentrate. Everything I had studied prior to that test day meant nothing (the test questions were not the same as anything I studied in the NCLEX books. Also, I only remembered about 5 questions from school...thats it!!!). I was always stuck between two or three answer choices for every single question. My test stopped at 85 questions and I felt only two things...Releif that the stupid test was over, and positive that I failed. I walked out to my car wanting to cry (to get rid of some of my anxiety), but I couldn't. I was even too depressed to cry!!! I knew I failed!!! I even went home and looked up some of the answers to the questions on the test, and they were WRONG.
A week and a day later (today), I found out I passed. I couldn't believe it. I had to print my license number off the computer three times just to make sure. So, if any of you are scared like I was always remember that there is hope! Nothing will help you though until you see for a fact that you've passed, but try to remember that almost everyone is as nervous, or more nervous, than you are and most of them still pass.

I also just took my OHio boards and the minimum is 85 and that is what mine shut off at and mine (licensce) was also on the boards web site the next am.
Congrats and if you have not went through your schools grad I recommend going to it we just had ours the 21 with capping and pinning following and I am so glad I went
:balloons: :)
I feel as though I may have failed also. It turned off around 88 questions
Alot of the questions seemed as they should be easy but the answers
weren't the ones I would of chosen. It was a guessing game. I would
have rather written an essay for each one of them to let them know
I did know what I was talking about.
My friend took hers today and said it was almost all pharm questions.
Not calculations, but drug side effects. I guess I was lucky. Although
I did get an A in pharm I don 't think I was ready for that.
I find out tommorow and she finds out Friday. We both are on pins
and needles!
Any advice. I know it doesn't mean anything if you get only a few
questions because they could be 50% wrong.
They should figure out another way to figure out if we are competent.
I don't think this is really a good system.

Hello,
I am freaking out here. I took my NCLEX PN today and it had to cut of in the 90's. I honestly felt it was simple I had a lot of priority questions. I did not have real serious questions that my other classmates said they had. I am so unsure right now If I dont know pass I will no doubt be the first one who has no passed in my entire class. Please share! I need your support.
Very nervous!
As soon as I left the testing center, I asked my mom, "Mom, would you be angry with me if I failed the test." And she answered cheerily, "No! You just try to take it again."
I don't think I could handle the stresses of nursing school/studying for nclex without a strong support system.

Any good review books out there for the nclex rn. I used the saunders nclex pn for my lpn boards, and it was good. What about the nclex rn saunders 3rd edition. Also was told the books are good to pass your 2nd year classes.
