Okay if you just took the nclex and are freaking out, about to puke your guts up, can't eat, sleep, think, going to the bathroom a lot more often, maybe telling yourself you are an idiot and you can't believe you just blew it?! Well that was me 48 hours ago all the way up until 1:30 yesterday. We have quick result here in Ohio and I finished my test at 11:30 on the 8th and my "licensed" results were posted to the board around 1:30 on the 9th. I SERIOUSLY thought I blew it and I am normally an optimist. I wanted to quit the test or start guessing or yell at somebody b/c I thought it was ridiculous. I had like three med questions of drugs I had NEVER heard of. Then total I think I had like 10 new format questions. Three fill in the blank and 7 check all that apply which were harder than heck. Then my math problems were confusing and I figured they would be easy! Every question seemed to have 2 right answer and it was like a 50/50 evertyime! It was pure torcher. I was pretty sure I got maybe 10 right for sure. When the computer shut off at 82 questions I thought yup that's it, it thinks I'm really stupid and there goes my dreams I couldn't even look at the administrators when I was leaving, I was shaking so bad I couldn't put the key in the locker, dropped my purse, and held my breath while trying not to cry all the way out to the parking lot. I could see my heart pounding through my shirt. MAJOR anxiety. When I got onto the main highway I put my sunglasses on and allowed the tears to flow and flow and flow! Then I felt relieved but sick at my stomach just b/c I KNEW I flunked. I seriously don't know how I passed. They say the minimum number of ?'s you get the better off you are. Well yea as long as you got the harder ones right or at least quite a few of them. Then I figured I just got them wrong so it shut off so soon. Turns out I must have done pretty okay b/c it took me about 2 hours and I had 82 questions. So I guess the # of ?'s does determine in a sense pass or fail b/c the computer can make its mind up on your few answered b/c you are doing well or you are "iffy" so it keeps going. Either way it works with you which is a good thing. So if you get a lot of ?'s don't freak out it's probably just waiting for you to get to a passing poing b/c it wants you to be a nurse :wink2: So if you are getting ready or just took the nclex, calm down, breathe, do something nice for yourself. If you made it through nursing school and have the desire to be a nurse then you will be fine. If by chance you are too, too nervous (I was) or maybe just not a good test taker, give it another shot if you truly want to be a nurse DONT give up and you will be there. So good luck to all of you and be sure to be the best nurse that you can be and don't take your license for granted :wink2: Bye
Hi guys, new here but have read a few of the encouraging posts while I was studing for my exam. I took the NCLEX PN today, it took me 1 hour 20 minutes and the exam stopped at 85 which means I either passed or failed miserably. I just can't wait to find out my results as a job offer hinges on them (they don't have GN in my state). I studied 3-5 hours a day for 18 days and finished about 3000 review questions.
Ldyrie I just wanted to say that the others are right. Don't give up! Take a few days just for yourself then jump back into it. I took a review course online through the NCSBN. It was really good with A LOT of review questions.
I think the confusion is that there are RN's and PN's/VN's posting. Minimum for RN is 75 and minimum for PN/VN is 85.
Thanks for the encouraging posts, it did help keep me on track. I will let you know how I did.
I am an LVN student who graduates on 11/18/05. I am taking my prerequisites at another college for my RN as well and have not had time to study for finals or NCLEX. How long did you study before you took your boards. I am getting very nervous. Thanks for any help or advice you can give. I need to start studying at least a few hours a day, but it's hard with going to two schools right now. Help. Thanks.
I took mine 10-11-05 I don't even know where mine cut off but I know it was around 80. I freaked out and went home sick and had to go to bed. I was so depressed. I recomend this before you take your test take a time out before you start and calm down. Remember Maslow. I had alot of safety and implementation and very little knowledge questions. When you study, read rationals and refer to every book you have to help you understand why an answer is right or why you got it wrong. Physically put yourself in the situation and it may be alittle more clear what the answer is, leave out 'what if '. I found out on the ms board of ns website 11-14-05 that I passed.

I started studying in January, just going over the NClex, trying to get a gazillion questions under my belt. I started studying very serioulsy Mid September after I set up my test date. OK, this is my 2 cents...no amount of studying will prepare you for what you will be asked, but you need to know your basics. It may ask you a question about Alzheimers, but what it is really trying to see is if you understand Pt. Safety or get Maslows Hiearchy. It is crazy crazy crazy.
I took mine the 12th and found out yesterday I passed. I got the minimum for the State of Texas which is 85.
One big tip. Take your Boards as soon or pretty quick after you graduate. Do not sit around and study, because you will feel unprepared or like you have lost some of your umph.
Thanks for all of the help in taking the NCLEX. You are all awsome. I am scared to death to fail NCLEX. I graduate from my LVN Program in California on Nov. 18th. I am also taking algebra at the community college as one of my pre-reqs for RN progam (have 4 more left to do). I will be taking nursing finals in three weeks so I don't know where to start studying for NCLEX. Can you guys tell me approx. how much time you spent studying before taking NCLEX. If I am graduating ll/18 and get a test date late Dec. or January would that be enough time (2 months) or should I postpone taking it? Thank you so much for any help. I am 48 and don't have much more time to waste. I am an A student in the nursing program but I study 24/7 and have two children, one daughter who is in RN school. Any encouragement or suggestions are so appreciated. Thank you so much!!!!!! You are all my heros!!!! Sincerely, Older Nursing Student in California graduating Nov. 18, 2005 - hooray! Take care all of you.

Like I said in my previous post. DO NOT WAIT to take it, take it as soon as you can. Studying is good, but alot of what I was tested on was what I was taught in school. The longer you wait, the more of a chance you will forget or not comprehend or something. Our school has had a 100% pass rate for the last 4 years. They highly recommend you taking it right away.
I know how stressful nursing school is, it is awful. I have 4 kids and literally had to shove them away for a year, it stunk and killed me, but now I am trying to make up for it. We all knew going into it how hard it would be, but it isn't until you get into the middle of it, do you realize how hard it actually really is.
What is your school's passing rate, have they told you that? Also where are you at as far as your grades go? That doesn't always matter, but can be a good indicator of what areas you need to study on. Does your school offer you a Mock NCLEX test? If so, that will also tell you where you are at as far as the national standard goes. Good luck and don't wait, "get 'er done" right away.
Thank you nurse in the making for your help. This is my school's first LVN class so there is no record of NCLEX pass rate yet. However my main instructor taught the RN program for years at our community college and we were taught more at that level in our program. I am one of two A students in the class (93%) but I study 24/7. I have two daughters also and know what you mean about pushing the kids behind while you've been in school. My 11 year old has had a hard time with mom not taking her places, spending time, etc. My 21 year old just started the RN program and is as stressed as I am. Our last week of school we are having an NCLEX reviw and mock test as you had mentioned. So I'm hoping that will tell me where I'm at. Congratulations to you on passing NCLEX. I hope I will be as lucky. I would hate to have worked this hard and not pass it. My instructor says we should have been studying all summer for NCLEX, but I could barely keep up with the tests we were having in class as well as clinicals. I have two NCLEX review books (Delmar and Mosby). I will get the first test date possible and just hope I'm ready. Thank you so much for your advice. Sincerely, Oldernursing student in California. P.S. Are you going for your RN also? I have four more pre-reqs to do, but it is hard fitting them in.
I took the NCLEX Exam on Sat 10/15/05. This was not my first time to take the test but the other times the computer stoped at 205 but this time the computer shut off at around 115. All the questions were LVN questions and I did not have any CNA questions and all I have was multiple choice. I want to pass this test bad and I hate this waiting. Does it usually based on the type of questions that you are given?

Thank you Thank you THank you so much for you encouraging words. I was a B student in school all the way through with the exception of endocrine. That part of the class I had to re-take. I have a Saunders review book and also the book that have 250 questions for the new exam. That is what I used as well as that Morrison media guide.
