Along the lines of the first thread, "Things you would love to say to your nursing instructors" I thought this would be a great thread to start. I've since graduated LVN but there was one main thing I wanted to say to some students in my class.
Will you people in the back row please stop talking! I swear that today I can still hear their motormouths running! :chuckle
When I am in the RN bridge I will come back and post some more. I'm sure some of you have something to get off your chest. Come on and unload here! :)
-You may love the smell of your perfume and cigarettes (on a NON-SMOKING campus!) but i assure you, your patient on chemo does not.
-Why do we have to go over every single question on the quiz/final, and how do you remember every SINGLE question???
-Have you heard of an iron?
-Do you really think they are going to tell you EXACTLY what to study and what is on the quiz/final?
-You got a 98! what? thats bad? CRY ME A RIVER.
Ok I'll be different here.
- Thank you for backing me up when we get treated unfairly.
- Thank you for understanding that I have a legitimate question and am not wasting class time.
- Thank you for venting with me after a rough exam/day, it's nice to see that I'm not the only one having a bad day.
- Thank you for supporting me in clinicals. It's nice to have someone who really understands what it's like to believe in me.
- Thank you for your kind words on my low days. It means a lot to me.
- Thank you for being my friend, family, support, and sounding board for nearly two years.
- 'Will the people in the back of the class please shut up! I'm practically sitting in the instructor's lap and I still can't hear her.'
- 'I tried, but, this discussion ended precisly as I knew it would. STRIKE 1. This is why I avoid you...and, to answer your question, I got an 84. Why is that you have to run around polling people on their grades everytime we have a freakin' test? I don't brag about/mention my grades, even when I make A's. But, thanks for making our mutual classmate feel like s...t for barely passing with a 76, you pretentious a-hole. She passed...bottom line. YOU didn't pass. Hell, you're not even passing the class...let's talk about THAT!"
- 'Wait a minute - too many chiefs; not enough indians. I need the instructors to teach and everyone else to be quiet..."
And get this -- it's not the 'A'/B students, either. It's the 'I have past med experience crowd'. I'll tell you something else? It's not even the females. It's 2 of the males...and all 3 are F/cusp of failing students.
They also make snide comments about those pursuing high grades, too. They're all under the impression that we'll make good grades while they get out and be hired first. They've said as much, too.
Guess they don't understand that we have to COMPETE for hospital positions. Demand > Supply. Can't do that if you're barely passing....
'Enough to Pass'
They don't seem to realize that we'll be tested on this same material for the NCLEX, either.
If they've barely mastered it now....and that's IF they make it that far.
- 'Why does every test answer have to be debated? If the instructor throws out another question...this class will be in revolt.'
- "If the instructor wants to give a pop quiz, so be it. You should've read the d*mned chapters - like the syllabus said to do."
Always whining about the unfairness of it all. Everyone isn't going to babysit you....
...and now? A POSITIVE COMMENT
- I'm only referring to 3 people in class. The rest of you guys are great. Ours is a dysfunctional little family.
Never understood completely the reason for this thread. But after my first official week of nursing school, I get it. And please excuse my language. I would love to tell my fellow nursing school students in my class:
Shut the hell up!!!!
My goodness, I did not realize it was that many questions or comments to be made about anything. I get bad headaches when I get aggrevated. (I am easily aggrevated) I am going to have to go to the doctor to get a prescription because two years with these people, I am going to need something stronger than Excerdin maximum strength.

:lol2:I'm LOL because I'm totally guilty of number 2, going over exam questions. I promise that I will tone it down this semester and only go over questions with those that want to.

Maybe if you spend as much time as you do putting on lip gloss and fixing your hair, paying attention you would have a clue.
No, the 2 min conversation you had with the Dr. doesn't mean your hot.
