There is not one person in my class

Published

with a 4.0

I read that so many people have a 4.0, but I know none of my classmates do. For our first 2 classes the teachers posted grades and not one person got an A in either of those classes. In fact, the teacher for the second class said on the first day "No one will get an A in my class. I don't like to give As"

Specializes in Med/Surg, Acute Rehab.

Well that instructor sure sounds like a joy! Power Trip, that's all I can say. Do not let it discourage you.

and that's about the time I walk out. Of course that is only possible if another professor teaches the class....

Your not paying a thousand a class to put up with ****.

She is the only one who teaches it. :o I also had her for clinical. I am happy I survived! :D We lost someone in clinical the first day. I know there are other students in my class who would not have made it through with her. I feel like I should get extra credit..... Just kidding! What doesn't kill me.....

When I started the ADN program a year ago, I had a 4.0. I have a 3.69 now.

-sigh-

It's a lot tougher than just regular classes.

Specializes in E.R..

I am in the same spot as Sarah Hay, started with a 4.0 now to a 3.68. Just give your all and that is the best you can do.

Specializes in LTC.

I'm in Med surg 2 and no one in our day or evening class got an A on the first exam.

Specializes in Pediatric Pulmonology and Allergy.

I obsessed over A's in pre-reqs because I wanted to get into a good nursing program. Now that I'm in, my priority is to do well and learn how to be a good nurse. If I get A's, so be it, but if not, not. I hope I at least get B's though... It's going to be tough because it's an accelerated program with a LOT of information to absorb in a short time.

Specializes in ICU, Telemetry.

If I wasn't an LPN working on an ICU stepdown/telemetry unit, I promise you I wouldn't be getting the grades that I am. The teachers actually told us the questions are from the last edition of the book, and there's things that aren't even IN the new book. There are a lot of questions I get right because of the job, not because of the school...

Hah, sounds like this professor is miserable and tries to put it off on you students. From my experience in nursing school, I find these professors make this content a lot harder than it is by developing the most BS questions imaginable.

There was a student who went off on her after the fluid/electrolytes test. Immature, really, but I would like to have witnessed it! I guess she was right in her face swearing and waving her hands around about unfair content. Interestingly enough, she is the oldest student in our class-- late 50s or early 60s I would say.

really...this teacher sounds like a sweetheart.

I wouldn't let that discourage you. I know when I was getting my degree in Psych a teacher said that and told us that the end that she did it because it motivated a lot of students to try to impress her enough to get an A.

Kind of a backwards way of thinking, but I suppose it works for some.
