I just wanted y'all's opinion on this. I am from Atlanta and the Runaway Bride was a big story here. It came out today that she has enrolled in an RN program. What do you think about someone who committed this kind of crime becoming a nurse? Interested in your responses!
Hope she gets plastic surgery for those eyes first, that is gonna scare the doodoo out of lots of patients.
I think she had hyperthyroidism, causing the bulging eyes. I wonder if she could have had psychosis or a mood disorder related to the hyperthyroidism? (I have no idea...just thinking out loud about the psych/thyroid thing.)
i wonder what name she will choose when she joins AN
Maybe she's already a member here?
In my ever so humble opinion, people do deserve chances at redemption. And, just because she happened to describe her phoney kidnappers as people of another race, doesn't mean she's a racist. Maybe she was just trying to be a creative liar.
Maybe she's turned over a new leaf after repenting of her mistakes, what do you all think, is it possible?
While I don't really approve of what she did... I don't think it's fair to ridicule her. Maybe she had some serious underlying
emotional/behavioral disorder that caused her to do what she did..??.. And now, hopefully she's gotten the help she needs and is trying to improve her life?
I have no idea what type of nurse she'll make... I don't know her as a person.
But... I did hear her former fiance is getting married to another girl. At least he seems to have found some peace in all of this. Who knows... maybe they both did??
when this story happened some of the news agencies called her a "nurse". she was not a nurse. she worked in a doctor's office. i wrote letters to the a few major news networks asking them to stop calling her a nurse since she was not licensed as a nurse. i told them working in a physician's office does not make one a nurse. i explained what does entitle one to use to title nurse.
thanks--this is a pet peeve of mine!!
my dh is a teacher, and woe to anyone who calls the clinic attendent a "nurse" in his presence!
the news lines just had a story about a "nurse" being punsished for repremanding a child--she was in the uk, where "nurses" are nannies, and "sisters" are our version of nurses. makes me crazy!!:scrm:
i kinda feel sorry for her. for the rest of her life she has a big red r on her chest. well, she already has the r. now she can add the n. lololololol:chuckle
if she is really a "normal" person who did something really stupid in the heat of the moment she has been punished enough by the continuing humiliation.
however, i don't think being a nurse is a good idea for her. it demands compassion for others, an incredibly high sense of "responsibility" and "stick too it" and a high level of integrity.
she seems lacking in these departments and i'm not sure she acquired these by her escapade.
also she really has too high a profile now. all of her patients would be saying "hey aren't you that lady that ......."
just a few dumb thoughts of mine on the situation. i could be right, i could be wrong.
time will tell.
I feel sorry for the well qualified applicant who was denied admittance to the nursing program in order to make room for this questionable individual. The admissions committee needs to have their heads examined. And for all the people who either don't get admitted, or who are asked to leave programs but yet were still capable, this sends a disturbing message. For her own sake and that of any future patients, I hope she has been able to find assistance in getting her erratic behavior under control.
