Just a bit ago the top three threads involved:
1.I have a DWI. Can I be a nurse?
2.I am stupid. Can I be a nurse?
3.If it takes me five times to pass NCLEX, Can I be nurse.
Not much left to add. Says it all.
I'm a new grad and I can't find a job in nursing, so I think everyone in nursing school should quit immediately and go into accounting. Since, you know, accounting jobs are just overflowing in this economy. No, I did not do any research into the hiring climate in my area, I just heard there was supposed to be a nursing shortage. Now they're trying to tell me there isn't?!?! How dare they allow me to go through school and get a degree and not offer me a full time job in my chosen specialty immediately upon passing the NCLEX. I mean, the nerve! Seriously, everyone GET OUT of nursing immediately. Who knew they were not handing out jobs like candy?
(Not trying to rag on new grads who can't find a job...I truly do empathize. It's just the mindset that they want to "warn" other students to get out of nursing...as if the economy doesn't suck in every sector these days!)
"to those commenting that this is 'the best thread ever', and 'i'm laughing so hard i have pop coming out my nose' grow up.... this thread has been done before. it wasn't funny then and it isn't funny now, this thread is mean, unprofessional and very immature.
what's most disapointing is that there are members commenting on this thread whose opinions i usually respect."
think of this as a lesson that most people's internal lives are far more complicated than you can imagine. (thanks, leslie)

If this type of thread is allowed to carry on for pages on end, perhaps us "pre-nursing" "immature" youngins would be in our right to create something similar, but this time label it "The Mockery of Old Bats in Nursing".
I'm strongly considering it.
Why not just do it instead of talking about doing it.
Just know you will laugh in the not too far away future about these very things yourself. And you will be able to come here on AN and look in to your post history and find how you have changed.
Try to have some fun, because in healthcare, fun is not something that happens all that often. It's gonna be a long haul of a life as a nurse.

@ 2bEssqtoRN.....i peeped your profile, and saw you have "bazillion" posts, all directed at appying to different nursing programs around the country!! But i guess folx do apply to where ever they can get in. Are you in a program?? We are not old bats.......consider us "seasoned".....LOL:thankya:
Belittling a selective group of people - pre-nursing students, nursing students, new nurses -- is what folks consider having fun??Riveting.
Maybe there need to be a disclaimer on this forum.
"This site may not be suitable for all bloggers. pre-nursing students, new nurses, read at your own risk"
You can't relate, so of course you view this as belittling.....but you will be just fine. BUT, first things first. GET ACCEPTED INTO A PROGRAM....study....grad....pass the NCLEX...get a job....then HOP ON BOARD WITH US....
You are definitely on the right track....
SNL would never have made it if the general public had such a distaste for satire. If it offends you, there is a little arrow in the upper left hand corner of your computer screen that will take you back to the previous page. There is also an x in the upper right hand corner that will free you from the offending posts altogether.

See, I went a different way. I pictured a critter that was a bee at one end, a dog at the other....
Heard a new one just this morning as the nursing students strolled in....talking about how they're going to get "jobs" as charge nurses and NMs right after they graduate, the CNAs and LPNs can deal with the, er, "stuff" since LPNS aren't nurses. The CNA was looking at them like they might just get stuffed into a sharps container and locked in a closet.
I started off as an LPN. And when I was a manager in computers, I never asked anyone to do something I wouldn't do. It's not only unethical, it's bad management.
So I assigned'm to the ETOH/GI bleed patient who has varices. Have a nice day!
