The Mockery of Nursing

Published

Just a bit ago the top three threads involved:

1.I have a DWI. Can I be a nurse?

2.I am stupid. Can I be a nurse?

3.If it takes me five times to pass NCLEX, Can I be nurse.

Not much left to add. Says it all.

wooh, just to make your day....check out some of the other posts of the "fledging nurse manager".....and I think she's a he.....this poster has had something to say to everyone about everything in the past....and he is a student...at least he was recently....but "has a degree in some sort of management" and has been a manager of a Fortune 500 company (or so he would like you to think)

Warning....if you seek out these past posts...make sure you have whatever you need..

ie depends, or blood pressure meds, or an antiemetic of some sort.:uhoh3:

Hmmmm, I might be able to save on my prescriptions if I quit coming to allnurses, since my BP med is my most expensive one!

I think I looked up a different person..? That was using a feminine name. Guess I'll keep looking.

But I'm sure there's only ONE annoying future nurse manager!

The PVT lied to me thread is reaching an all new low.

Apparently, anyone who did not tell the OP that she is a wonderful person and will be a wonderful nurse despite failing the NCLEX 3 times is a MEAANNN person.

If I write a letter to Pearson Vue, think it will create peace in the Middle East? And solve world hunger?

Yes.

Then you can start a thread about how you are a Pearson Vueist nurse!

If this is the poster I think you are referring to- I think he has serious Mind and Mental Health issues.
I've been thinking that for a long time now. Glad I'm not the only one.

For those of you who would be in favor of seeing a true nursing shortage, I have a suggestion. It's simple, brutal, and I believe, effective.

At the end of the NCLEX have the test taker compose a coherent paragraph using proper spelling, grammar, punctuation and syntax. Even allow the use of "spell check". Make it worth thirty percent of the test. For those with a GPA of 4.0, make it worth fifty percent. To further decimate the ranks of successful candidates, there can be no discussion of "Twilight", Justin Bieber, cheerleader camp, boyfriends, or the use of the word "unfair".

As stated this would be brutal, but I think it would go a long way toward fomenting the impression that this is a profession and not a cadre of high school freshmen discussing the latest episode of "Jersey Shore". Afterwards, sit back and watch the NCLEX forum light up.

(Oh, am I going to get smacked for this one.)

I was just told I need to be more sensitive. I feel like I've joined the cool kids club.

It's not quite being told you're a meen biter nurse! But close. :)

One of my classmates made a drug error and now our teacher is picking on her. Should she write a letter to Pearson Vue?

i'm much too new to nursing to have earned my "crusty old bat" stripes, so maybe i am just a jealous, dream killing meanie. whatever the reason, i have this ridiculous urge to go through and correct some of these crazy posts have been popping up. while my grammar and spelling are certainly not beyond reproach, i shudder to think how some people managed to get through the basic english composition courses i thought were required of most nursing programs (and most high schools, for that matter).

(please note my frustrations are with those whose first language is english, and not to offend those whose primary language is something other than english, or have a learning/reading disability or physical disability, etc.)

my point is, posts that include txt spk, all caps, no punctuation, no capitalization and phrases such as i seen, we was and the many, many misspelled words can actually detract from the content of one's message.

(am i rambling or does any of this make sense?)

(I can't believe that I've just discovered this thread. I totally missed out! :lol2:)

I took the NCLEX recently. I did the PVT trick and got the 'bad' popup. I paid for the quick results two days later and found out I passed! I think I'm gonna write to Pearson Vue because I was pretty sure I failed. But they passed me! It's totally unreliable! I don't deserve it. I'm going to write a letter asking them to evaluate my exam so I can take it again and get the failing result that I deserve.

Ha, there is a thread simply entitled "I got a pop- up" in all caps and my mind went right into the gutter.:D

You're terrible.

I like it.

I'm not sure I could pass that test. Punctuation scares the cr*p out of me.

I would definitely be in favor of barring references to "Vampires in Love," and that twerp Justin Beiber. If he does that, I will hunt him down and make him try to sing "Helter Skelter."I will defiantly, definately make him suffer.

Please point me in the direction of the post where the poster is a new manager, and the one with the guy who's a new RN.

I feel like I'm missing out. I was spending too much time working on my US History course that I need to get my BSN.
