The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

it was supposed to go to school's instead of us! i hope my school doesnt take forever to send it in. i will be calling my school later today to see if they received it, since the deadline is so close.

i hope they were in contact with the schools because how do they know who the representative is. if anything, i will forward the email to the rep in the financial aid office.

And now a third email, clarifying yet again... it was meant to go to school officials.....geez

This is so weird - I feel like elementary school children are handling my application - I feel victimized by these terrible people! DOWN WITH HRSA!!!!

I just got a confusing email that has a spreadsheet attached, asking me for information like how much my tuition is, etc. I am hoping this means I get selected??? Maybe they are trying to see how many more awards they can give out? Did anyone else get this email??? I never got the first email, I AM SO HOPING THIS MEANS I HAVE BEEN SELECTED!!!!!

It is for our school representatives.

Now I want to go into school and say, "Hey, make sure you fill out that form HRSA sent you and turn it in soon, ok?" and see what they say, lol.

Yeah I got that email too and then a recall and then the clarification email...

They're playing with my emotions! lol

So I emailed that poor man (he probably got a million emails in that moment, lol) and he said that if he did need additional documents (the banking info, etc.) I would know by the end of next week. So for those of us still waiting, just one more week to go!!!!

They don't seem to be giving the schools enough time to do this form. They said in the email sent to the school reps "We are collecting data for selected applicants for the Nursing Scholarship Program who are in the final review and may receive an award if the requested information is received by July 28th 2010." Today is the 23rd. School is closed 24th and 25th. So that leaves Mon 26th-Wed 28th.

So if the school doesn't get it back by that date, then what?

I dropped my school verification form off to the nursing office at my school on a Monday after class. All it needed was a signature from the Associate Dean. I went in there the following Monday and it still was NOT signed. I had to come back on Wednesday for it to finally be complete. I can only imagine how long its going to take them to fill this thing out. Sigh
