The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

Thanks for all the answers...sorry to be so needy LOL!

Heres another. Sohow does the scholarship view full time status. I have taken every single prereq and i start nursing 1 next month, however its only 10 credits so am i not considered full time? The only program my school offers is considered full time. I had added a nutrition class to put me over 12 credits but when i reread the hrsa instructions today i noticed that it specifically said classes that arnt part of the program dont count towards full time status. Any ideas?

Yes, it's my first time applying. I wanted to apply last year, but I missed the deadline for the paperwork because I was starting the program last August and my program wasn't going to send program acceptances until mid-June.

What about you?

This is my first time applying as well. I am in LA and it seems like none of the emails have been sent to our state. I am hopeful. Congrats!!

I haven't gotten an email so far but I would be in this same situation. There is one single course I haven't taken but other than that, I've had all the pre reqs so heck, I might not be able to take the scholarship even if I got it. Most of my semesters are ten hours as well.

I'm soooo hoping that they do another round of emails today or sometime this week - please everyone let us know if you get an email!!!! We survived one round, there is hope for us yet!!!

I agree mainnursing1234. What state are you located in?

Anybody else from New York received an email from HRSA?

MI, but it kind of seems random so far.....

Well, my program is 10 credits per semester as well, but my school considers it full time. When we sent in the supplemental forms, the one the school had to fill out asked if the student is considered full time, so the scholarship probably has you down like that.

Well I don't have a fax machine and went to Office Depot to have it faxed. I had to wait a few minutes, but I got a fax confirmation, so I guess it worked. I have no idea how many times the machine may have had to redial the number, but that is the number I used.

anybody else from new york received an email from hrsa?
