The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

Why do you have more than 5 pages? There's 1 page for the letter, 2 pages for the contract (the 3rd page they sent was blank), 1 page for the W4 (the 2nd page was just a worksheet for you to figure out the numbers) and 1 page for the bank receipt. Am I missing something?

The cover sheet, likely. I had 6 pages including that.

I do have a question, which lines are we suppose to sign on the contract??

When do you graduate from your program?

Then you sign the main contract line and the optional contract line for 2011-2012 if you want to continue the scholarship past the 2010-2011 school year. If you are in school past June 30, 2012, you would also sign the next line, too, for 2012-2013.

I called today to find out if I was to sign any of the optional contract lines and that's basically what they told me.

I had seven pages because the w-4 I sent both pages and yes its including the cover page.

Received mine today IN MY SPAM FILTER (gmail) @ 10:11 am. I live in NH, will finish ADRN in 2012, at technical college. 0 EFC.

I literally haven't even thought about this in a month or more and today said "wow, maybe i'll check the HSRA thread on all nurses and see what everyone is saying. Checked spam and there it was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:yeah:

Esokitty, which tech are you going to? Im from NH going to MCC! Congrats, I got my email too and I am stoked!

I have no clue what to put on my W4...do they want us to hold out money or can we just take it all and deal with the taxes with our accountant when then time comes?

I'm soooo hoping that they do another round of emails today or sometime this week - please everyone let us know if you get an email!!!! We survived one round, there is hope for us yet!!!

for those having concerns about the w-4, you dont want to put any amount to be exempt. i used to work in an accounting office and i processed w-4's daily. if you put exempt it may hurt you in the long run come tax time. im single with no kids, so on line 'h' i put a 1.

the higher the number on 'h' the less taxes they take out which may also effect you during tax time. its a bit confusing, but dont add up all of your numbers for line h. if you just want to claim yourself, put 1. if you want the most taxes taken out put 0. try not to put anything higher than 2 or 3...

this form isnt sent to the govt, the employer (hrsa) uses this to process your tax info in there payment system.

i hope this helped.

dcofill-

i only had 3 attachments, but my email had a letter instead of just being blank. so i guess one of your attachments is what the email was supposed to say.

there should be your w-4, bank info sheet, contract, and the letter accepting the funding.

i had a total of 6 pages (including my fax cover sheet). i faxed both pages of the contract...
