The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

I have not heard anything since the email on 8/25 either. I agree, it is very disconcerting when you do not hear anything, and then people mass email our list asking "Did anyone get an email?" and do not bother to offer any details on the nature of the email or anything. It is especially troubling considering that I am sure most of us that rec'd the letter have been going about planning our finances for school etc based on the knowledge that we will be receiving the scholarship. It was especially disturbing when I read on here that there were people who were notified they had won it and then rec'd rejection letters a short time later. That is a horrible situation that I cannot even imagine having to go through.

Having said that, I dont think that any of us should panic quite yet. I know you are on my analysts list MRevis because I have saw your email on the list that the people send out emails to. Let us keep in mind that emails have gone out over several days in the past. I think most of us all rec'd emails on the same day, 8/25, but the one in July went out over as many as 4 days. I will be thankful when this is finally all finalized and I know 100% that I am receiving this scholarship. This does put a great strain on a person mentally in an already stressful time with school etc.

Same situation here.....have not heard a word since the "congratulations" email.....

same here, was an original recipient, haven't heard anything since and no email! I haven't tried to call anyone either... At least there was no rejection letter though! We're ok, if we wouldn't have gotten the scholarship then we would have had a rejection letter by now. No worries!!:D

I also got an email yesterday which was basically a coversheet which included my name and address. It said there were worksheets attached regarding payment amounts and instructions for invoicing, as well as signed contract, but none of those things were attached.

I emailed my analyst and she said those things would arrive with the welcome packet.

Check your spam filter, other recipients, as it came from a new address, and may have landed there!

I just got mine about 30 minutes ago. They seem to be coming out very slowly, so I would not panic.

whew. Got mine at 315pm (Kentucky time...)

Was not an initial award recipient and got mine at 12pm PST today

I got mine earlier too

I was a late recipient, so I was worried when I saw on Facebook that others were getting emails and I was not. So I called MC and she said that they have split the emails up between four people, so it may not be your actual analyst that is supposed to send the email to you and to not worry until the end of monday. I got it shortly after. So if someone has not gotten it, call on monday but otherwise do not worry :)

I also got the email.

IF you check out the facebook page. I think a lot of us post of there and not here.

So, how much are the scholarships for? I most likely will be accepted into my nursing program in November and start in January.... So, I will be able for the next go around. Is the scholarship enough money to make a two year committment?
