The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

YAY... What school r u going to?

Do you think that is true for students who start school Sept 27th (like me..)??? I read the information that the NSP contract is as you stated July to June, but it also says I need to be in class for at least 15 days that month in order to receive the stipend....it is as clear as mud...

Oh man...I wish I started late September too!!!! I start 8/23....SO nervous! :uhoh3:

My credit was checked by CBC/DHHS/BPHC and the CBR Mortgage Services. WOOOT, this must be a good sign because they would not have paid to have the credit checked unless they were pretty sure they were going to give it.

I sent an email to CL to clarify my situation and to my surprise she will be back to her office on the 30th???!! Everyone here got their credits pulled, so there is no other explanation that my credit was not pulled except that my file did not get to her hands. I will call tomorrow because it seems that she made her decisions already without looking at my file.

Hey don't be nervous !!! You made it this far!

I have a two year contract - it automatically renewed. At the end of our year though -- they asked the people that had signed on for one year -- if they wanted to extend for a second year -- so even if you are awarded one year, if it's like in the past, they renew you pretty easily for a second year.

Sounds good to me!!:yeah::yeah::yeah:

Did you sign a two year contract? Or just one? If you did sign a two year contract, have you heard anything for this year?

I was awarded a two year contract (one of only 17) - so mine automatically renewed - They sent emails to current grant people asking if they wanted to renew the grant for another year -- which I think is pretty normal - so if you only get a one year grant, and you have more than one year left - you will probably be able to extend.

I too have CL and have not had my credit checked. Not taking that as a good sign. I didn't know she was going to be gone that long! That's the worst news I've heard in a long while.... :(

Oklahomacole-

Do you happen to know the answer to this by any chance? I am in an ADN program currently. I graduate in May 2011. If I were to get this scholarship and immediately enroll into an RN-BSN program for Aug 2011, could I then renew for another year or two, or would I have to completely reapply for the scholarship?
