The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

See thats waht I was trying to figure out, Im taking 14 credits but only 10 are for my program. Thats Ill I could take since I have every other class taken. My school is considerednfull time, and god knows im at school full time but I wasn't sure if HRSA looked at it that way. Any one else taking under 12 fulltime credits, and get the emails and credit check?
Yes I am taking 11 nursing credits...it was 14 for the semester, but I already took one of the classes. I am still considered full time and received emails and banking info.
This is what I found on the HRSA webpage...stipend payments are not made every month (I wish it was).
How much is the Nursing Scholarship Program monthly stipend and when is the payment made?
For the 2010-2011 academic year the monthly stipend will be $1,269. The stipend is disbursed by the end of each month; payments are not considered late until the 7th of the following month.
The first stipend payment is issued in October and includes a lump sum payment for all months of the Fall term (July through October) in which the student has spent 15 days or more attending classes in the scholarship-supported nursing program. For more information, please see Tuition, Required Fees, Other Reasonable Costs, and Stipend.

1. The NSP programs BEGINS July 1, 2010....
2. During the 2010-2011 school year NSP will pay a full-time student a monthly stipend of $1326 (before taxes)
3. The first payment for NEW AWARDEES will be made no later than October 7, 2010, and will include stipend payments RETROACTIVE to July 1 2010 and the one time payment for Other Reasonable Costs.
I think what is confusing me is the attending 15 days or more of classes....If they aren't going to retroactive everyone's stipends, I would think that the NSP program would run 9/10-6/11 and not 7/1/10-6/30/11.....crazy...and then if you accept the 2nd year of support do they stop the stipend from July - Sept the next year???
I am taking 16 credits, which I am concerned about. 19 is crazy. My nursing classes are 9 credits. I am taking two other classes which are requirements, Developmental Psych, online, and A&P 1.
I can't imagine having anatomy and physiology as one class..I had them separate, one semester of each with a lab for each and those were hard enough. There is so much material to cover. Good luck with the class!

I think everyone is confused about the stipend payment. On last years board someone said that they got paid for July through October in their first check even though they didn't start classes until the middle of August. When I read the stipend payment I understand it as you won't receive a stipend for the month unless you were in classes for 15 days, or in other words my classes for school start August 23rd so then if I get the scholarship then I understand it meaning my stipend payment would start for September and not have July and August on it. But, it could also mean that as long as your school has started and you were in classes for 15 days then you get the back stipend so your payment would be for July, August, September, October and have the ORC payment on it.
I wish they would give a better explanation as to what the payment will include because their explanation leaves open for two totally different interpretations. At this point, I am just hoping that they will notify people starting August 23rd and we won't have to wait till the end of September/early October like what happened last year.

Clear as mud! I will be happy either way....I think that for those people who attend school thru summer, etc will receive it for the months that they have been in school for 15 days. I did read as much of last years thread as I could and found that 1 person did clearly say that you have to attend class for at least 15 days of that month in order to receive the monthly stipend. It would be great if they had that information posted on their web page, especially if you don't go to school during the summer, you wouldn't be able to rely on receiving that as income for a few months.
