The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

i am totally confused!!

i just called a lady who was very nice on the phone and she said that my analyst is cl which took me by surprised because i have been talking and receiving emails from jj3rd. i told her this and she said to hold on that she was going to ask jj3rd for my file. she apparently spoke to him and she said that he will be sending me an email later today. i just wanted to know about my credit check and this is what i found out! anyway, he responded with this email;

"hello mr. #@$,

i just want you to know that i received your e-mail, and if you are selected as a recipient of the scholarship all of the questions you have asked will be answered. the program will be notifying all applicants starting august 24th 2010. thank you."

this does not sound like good news to me, since the lady on the phone told me that recipients who are eligible will have their credits pulled. the thing is that if in fact cl is my analyst she does not have my file, so how the hell is she going to pull my credit, and why did jj3rd did not mention anything about this in his email???? what the heck is going on???

i recieved my initial email to him, faxed my info to him, called left msg's and emailed him numerous times. when the nice lady from hrsa called me on thursday to see if i was still interested, i told her i faxed my info into jj. come to find out he isnt my analyst, he reps ny, where i live, but my school is in nj so ultimately kh is now my ananlyst. he said he didnt have my file etc... but what i dont understand is why didnt jj call or email me back letting me know that i wasnt on his list. if the nice lady, i think her name starts with an a, i wouldnt have known and wouldnt missed out on the scholarship because of him.

check your spam to see if you received another email from a different analyst, if not call back and speak to the young lady again. she told me to fax my forms to kh and i called to confirm and she received them.

I have KH. No credit checks or contact with my school rep......starting to wonder if we are the alternates.......I promised myself I wouldn't stress about this dang scholarship anymore but for some reason I can't help myself but to come to this site everyday and see what is going on ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

I feel the same way, but it is what it is and there is no point in stressing about it because I cannot change the outcome..... OR at least that is what i keep telling myself...:)

Wow. That is scary to think that you could have had the wrong analyst this entire time. I am starting to think maybe I have the wrong one. I have KH, but I am all the way out in Indiana. I saw someone had KH in NJ. Did we all count 5 analysts? I have not had credit pulled or received any communications since the emails in July. Would people mind posting their analyst and state?

KH and I am also in TN

The thing is that since I live in NY I was given to JJ3rd, BUT as the woman on the phone said my school is in Miami so my analyst should be CL. She said that this happens all the time. I offered to refax my documents to CL but the lady on the phone said not to worry because they all work in the same office and communicate between them.......BUT, I will call her again tomorrow and insist that I want to send my info to CL. After all, I don't have a good feeling about JJ3rd.

I got emails from analysts MC and KH....I live in California but am going to school in Kentucky

Hey see if someone on here who has CL as his/her analyst will give you the fax number and then just fax the info regardless???? I am sorry this is happening to you. I would be totally freaking out:uhoh3: But surely they are not complete idiots and would realize your info is with the wrong person??? Best of luck!

Well...I think that maybe our analyst is just going about the process differently. TN and IN are close enough that it is feasible that one would be responsible for both. This actually might be a blessing in disguise. I had to finish 2 prerequisite courses prior to beginning my Accelerated BSN 2nd degree at a state school. I just finished the 2nd one last Friday. A in both classes. I just ordered my transcript yesterday. Hopefully get it to the school this Friday and once KH starts checking for who has any contingencies or not, I will be off the list.

On a side note, I agree with the folks that state that we should be happy that we are just in nursing school. My program had over 230 applicants for 30 spots!!!!!

I have CL in TX.

Not only should we be happy we are in nursing school but that we have made it one semester closer to being finished (for those who have completed one or more semesters). My class started out with 30 students and only 14 of us are entering the 4th (out of 5) semester. Got 2 love nursing school:redbeathe:nurse::redbeathe
