The mod closed it before I could post this cite showing that it is, indeed, an urban legend:
http://www.snopes.com/medical/healthyself/coughcpr.asp
But beyond that, I am always suspicious of any email or post that says, "Tell as many of your friends as possible right away." That's almost a slamdunk for a scam chain letter.

Thanks Catlady - it is not a good thing to put nonsense out as truth unless one knows it for a fact and can back it up. THanks for the site. traumarus

Oh well. I was just trying to be nice. She THOUGHT she was being helpful. I now know not to encourage any medical advice given on the boards.

Agree with those e-mail messages. After a while, you can spot the "urban legends" within the first couple words.

Gotta love Snopes. They seem to take the time that those of us don't have in determining if info is unless or not.
A few months ago they had a picture of what could have been an anacephalic baby. Looked too big to be a newborn to me, as they stated it only lived a few minutes/hours.

And here I was, just hitting 'copy' from the Snopes site! There IS interesting stuff about 'cough therapy', but nothing anyone is going to learn from this email is going to save them
Thanks for the info. All we ask is that you are able to back up your information with facts. This is the entire reason that we in no way shape or form wanting to get into the medical advice arena.
