IS the hard truth for most nurses definitely new grads is that poop cleaning and urine collection RN jobs are all that is open?
Pretty much bedside care, running around like a chicken with your head cutoff.
I don't think ICU solves the issue either.
Definitely thinking about different degree, since experience is the only way to open up other nursing positions, but I am not about to work bedside for 10 years. I would rather go back to school.
I have a couple of months of bedside experience so is there anything else I can do besides bedside care? If not I have no choice to move on.
There is no way I can pursue marriage a family by bringing home income this way. Just not going to happen.
Yeah, I've always felt it a bit odd that some find it necessary to announce that they don't like cleaning poop. Of course you don't. None of us do. Wouldn't it be pretty weird for someone to say that they did? (Fecophilia....ew)
I really hope that isn't an actual thing....!
Yeah, I mean everyone has their favorite tasks... Personally, I like the really bad wounds. I don't know why, but I jump to assist with wound care on anything interesting. You'll never see me skipping towards the nearest blowout, it's part of my job though, and I'm cool with it. :-)
Definition. No images.
Hmmmmm. Hard to imagine, scat fetishism. Come to think of it, I'm going to immediately STOP thinking of it.
So what do I see this afternoon in a story on Yahoo news?
That gold can be found in fecal matter. Seriously. (Or not.)
Anyway, if you want an explanation you'll just have to go on Yahoo's news site and scroll down until you find the story. But there are a few people involved in obtaining gold and other metals (in nano-minute amts.) from poop.
Kind of far-fetched if you ask me, but then again, just for the entertainment value alone, it'd be worth scooting over to the site so you can give a disbelieving snort.

OP also started a post regarding how much money nurses make. And now there is gold in poop. Too bad she hates poop so much. You can get rich as a nurse!

Probably take you your entire career to find enough to get rich. And what a rep you would get for panning with a bedpan in search of your fortune!
It sounds like you went to nursing school straight out of high school and have that immature mindset. A lot of nursing is bed side care plus teaching, using critical skills. There seems to be an influx of your type coming into nursing because people think it is a great wage seeing $$$ not WORK. Honestly nursing programs should require two or more years of verifiable CNA or PCT work experience before entering the program. Perhaps you should look into hospitality or business jobs

Who are you addressing, the OP? You need to use the 'quote' button on the post you are responding to....otherwise we don't know which poster you're answering.
It also depends where the students have clinical placements. Fortunately, the hospital was closing beds when I was in 4th year. We worked full time hours with minimal supervision on an 80 bed medicine unit, two CNAs.
I realized on day one that the nurses were responsible for all personal care.
