Hi All!
I'm a crazy father of 2 ex-premed who just recently turned down Northwestern to go into a RN program.
I already have an Associate in Science, but I'll be getting another ADN and then go to a 4 yr school.
When I went to an info session about the RN program ill be trying to get into, out of like 70 ppl only 5 were guys.
So I want to know are there any men out there?
I am 18 and I will be attendin a Nursing program in Greenville, SC. What are some of the grants? I can get because otherwise I can't pay for college and I am still asking myself can I be successful in this carreer? I have mild Cerbral palsy I hope it don't get in my way of becoming my dream, the ultmate dream is to be a NP I don't think I can become a doctor but maybe a P.A I want to make the world a healthier place and I know that this is my calling.

Congrats on starting your BSN program. I'm in my 3rd semester of the Accelerated BSN program at Georgetown U in DC. I'm not sure if your program is structured like mine, but there are probably a couple things I can suggest.
- Try not to fall behind. Once you get busy during a semester, it's hard to catch up.
- If you have a summer semester in your program, that may be your hardest. It is really hard to stay engaged and motivated to study when everyone else is outside having fun
- I found the courses on Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, and Med/Surg to be the most challenging. For me, that meant spending less time on less challenging courses, so I could focus on the hard stuff.
- If you plan to work in a hospital after graduation, try to do clinicals (if you have a choice) in hospitals that hire new grads.
- Nursing schools are great at training, but mediocre at job placement. No matter what your school promises in terms of job placement for graduates, job placement is ultimately your responsibility.
Best of luck!

Hey guys, Just got accepted to a RN program down here on the Gulf Coast for the spring. Was in a rad tech program before this, and didnt really care for it because it wasnt hands on enough for me. I've already gone through a bunch of clinicals/EKG/Phlebotomy rotations in that program so I'm hoping that will help out with the new one, and hoping that nursing works out for me. Already have all the pre-reqs and everything done so we'll see how everything goes.
Ok. I'm 17 and I just got accept at UWI in my country to do a Bsc in nursing its a 3 year program. I'm looking foward to it, hope I see some fellow men in my classes though, don't wanna feel like an outcast, because I'm more of a masculine person and I don't hang around with girls that much (I'm totally straight for the record) but I hope for the best.
I just join this site its really supportive being there is a lot of male nurse And students on here, and I dont have any friends on here yet so be sure to send me some friendship request. Peace
