Thank You Note to GPC's Nursing Program

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

I can’t neglect to thank the faculty and staff of the GPC nursing program for my experience while enrolled. The reason it is important for me to say thanks is because my plethora of negative experiences while enrolled in the program helped me to be truly grateful for the nursing program I left GPC for.

If I had never gone to GPC and been treated like dirt by many of the faculty and staff (minus a select few – you know who you are) I would not appreciate the instructors I now have nearly as much in my new program.

My time at GPC helped me to develop a thicker skin, more confidence in myself, and a deeper faith in God because that’s the only way you will make it out of there with enough sanity to thrive in another program as I now am.

I know that many students that leave GPC’s nursing program are not able to get into other programs for various reasons. To those of you in this situation, don’t give up on your dream. GPC is not at all the typical nursing program despite what others have said. Unfortunately, many are so wounded after leaving that they don’t continue to pursue nursing.

Just a few of the things that I have in my current RN program that I did not have at GPC are:

  • Rationales provided for all tests questions
  • Polite, respectful faculty and staff
  • Returned calls and emails
  • Organization, Organization, Organization
  • Tests questions whose correct answers can be found in the required reading
  • Not having to put my family on the backburner until I finish school
  • Exam grades and a GPA that reflect the diligence that I put into my studies

Again, GPC I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart for your unprofessional, uncaring, and blatantly unfair practices because they have served to make me a more grateful, and solid nursing student currently finishing up in another program.

God Bless

Thanks you so much for those encouraging words! I just got my acceptance letter for GPC's Fall 09 program. After reading some of the other posts I have definitely had some reservations about the school, but after reading what you had to say about it really made me feel much better about going there.

cheergirl33, when did you get your letter? is this your first or second letter? were you denied at the beginning of the month, and got accepted now?

Hi cheergirl33. i just have a quick question.. what was your NET score, science GPA, nursing gpa and overall gpa

my net is 83, science 3.8 overall nursing 3.71, and overall gpa for all classes attemptted 2.6 but thats for classes that i took before i changed my major from communications to nursing, but all of my nursing courses are good.. its the classes like accounting, and spanish and classes that have nothing to do with nursing that has my overall down like that. so i havent heard anything no acceptance or denial.. i want to be sure they are even considering my application because after i applied, i didnt take the net until the 17th which was like a month after i applied.. so idk..

can does anyone know if i could go to the clarkston campus and speak with someone.

Hey.....my net score was an 87, science gpa was like a 3.3, overall nursing was like a 3.7 or 3.8. Did you get a letter saying that your application for the nursing program was complete and they were reviewing it? I got a letter maybe 2 weeks after I applied that told me my nursing application was complete and they were reviewing it.

As the original author of this thread and a practicing RN I must say it does my heart good to hear that GPC has made many necessary changes after years of many complaints and suggestions. Although it is a still a shame that so many people were victims of the old regime, I am absolutely delighted to hear that positive changes have been implemented. Stay focused on your goals and you will get there no matter what.

God bless.

hi, i just got accepted to the spring 2010 semester. any advice on what to expect, what study skills to change and adapt to. is it possible to make it through the program without failing? does it do one good to not have a job and just focus on the program?

Congrats!

My suggestions:

Read How to Survive and Maybe Even Love Nursing School. This is the best book!

Also, review your A&P, you'll need it.

thank you soo much
