Anyone applying to Texas Women University? I recently attended an information session and spoke to Ms.Victoria the nursing coordinator for TWU. What are your stats? What advice to you give when studying for the TEAS? I know you have to apply for TWU first then get accepted. Then you apply to TWU NURSING. But I am somewhat confused on that process. I went to the apply portal and it does not give me the option to apply for FAll of 2016. I may have to wait. Any current TWU students that can give me any advice on the application process. It will be of great help. Thank you!
I had the same freak out. It is the same test. The ADN vs. BSN is used in determining the program perctentile. So it is comparing your score to others who selected ADN. I don't remember being given the option to choose between ADN and BSN. Anyway, your national percentile and your adjusted individual total score are not affected by this.
Hey guys! I am a student living in Florida and I'm trying to apply to TWU in the fall. Does anyone know how TWU evaluates transfer credits? Because the history classes and government classes that the TWU nursing program requires aren't prerequisites that you need to take in Florida! I was hoping that they would accept the other credits that I have taken for nursing. I'm trying to find the TWU phone number to call on NursingCAS for help but the website is down for me! Any help is appreciated!
Moni,
I was surprised on how well I did in that section, as I knew it would be my worst. You should get your scores today if you haven't all ready. If your overall score is in the low 80's and you are above a 65 in reading...you may want to keep the scores you have. I hope you did okay, the test is a lot of time and money.... You can take the test more frequently if you go through PSI rather than wait for the ATI to hold another set of testing sessions at the Test USA or whatever it is called.....
Hello everyone! I am also applying for Fall 2016. I am still waiting on CAS to receive one of my transcripts, but my application is ready to submit besides that. I am really nervous and I hope that I can be patient when it comes to waiting for acceptance letters, but I will probably be a basket case.
My stats:
GPA: 3.448
TWU Bump: Yes
TEAS: 84%
My GPA is not that great, but the bump really comes into play to balance that out. My TEAS score seems to be average. I wanted to retake the test, but after talking to my adviser, she said that I am competitive and that she wouldn't risk taking the TEAS again if she was in my shoes (because they take the latest scores, NOT the best scores). I know that people were accepted last year with worse stats, so my hopes are high. I have also seen some really great scores and GPAs on here:) Good luck to everyone.
I do have one bit of advise when it comes to determining if you are competitive enough. There are some horror stories out there about people being rejected with 4.0s. Don't listen to all of that. GPA is important, but it is not the only factor. They look at preferences and TEAS scores a BUNCH. If you want to know if your scores are adequate, just simply call the advising department on campus and they will give you an idea of where you stand. They are some of the best advisers I have ever worked with!:)
@bearfur,
I hope so.... I took it at PSI and I heard it takes like 2 days to see your scores on the ATI website. I have been checking, but nothing. Do you know how many times you can retake the TEAS for TWU. I know its once per semester, but is their a certain limit you can take in total per year. Is their a waiting period like the HESI?
Hey, I know you asked @bearfur, but I figured I would help if I could. There is no limit to how many times you can take the teas now. There used to be but not anymore. The only problem is that they take the latest scores, not the best. If you end up doing worse, they will still take those scores:( I hope this helps!

You need to have your college(s) mail the transcript to CAS. Their address is online, it's a P.O. box in Watertown, MA. The form does not need to be attached. I had all my colleges mail to CAS without the form and they have all been received with no problem. It may take up to 3 weeks to get this transcripts in so I would definitely get on it if you haven't. CAS also accepts electronic transcripts but they have to go through a certain service. There is something about that on the CAS website that I remember reading. You may want to look into the option right away since all schools may not use it. You can save time by requesting transcripts electronically if your colleges are set up for that. Many use the National Student Clearinghouse for transcript requests. Some colleges, like UH, have their own forms you mail in or drop off and they take forever.....
