Can anyone give a good description of their experiences at Texas Wesleyan distance CRNA program? (Cincinnati, Kentucky area) I am thinking about applying there but I don't know how the program really works?

Thanks,

LoveHearts,

I hated the GRE. It wasn't the best score in the world but it was enough. My GPA is high and so are my science grades, so TWU responded and told me I would definatly get an interview-and I did. When talking with my co-workers (9 applied!), 6 of them got interviews at UC and when each one spoke of their interviews, they were not consistent from one to the other. One person didnt hardly get any clinical questions at all. Only one got accepted and it was his second year applying. The one thing I like about TWU is they seem to be consistent from person to person/year to year when you ask people. I am not familiar with the CMC, what is that? This is my first year applying and so if I do not get accepted at TWU, I have alot to go on for next year after going through the interview process. I think not knowing what to expect going to St E's was the most nerve racking. I held my own, some answers I did not know but with some input from them was able to get to the answer they wanted. I have worked in a CVICU now for 16 months, I was an OB nurse for 14 years before that. I am an oldie but goodie!!!hehe. Who knows, maybe some of us in this thread know each other

I have an interview on Wednesday, just found out about the interview yesterday so I'm a ball of nerves!

Needless to say, I will be up most of the night reviewing CCRN stuff!

Good luck to all!

My interview is for the Tallahassee, FL area. This is my first time applying, I'm not feeling too nervous anymore. Thanks and good luck to you too.

1 heart nurse,

The CMC is a sub-specialty certification once you have your CCRN. There is CMC, Cardiac Medicine, and CSC, Cardiac Surgery. I was surprised that either place didn't know what it was and I had to explain it. I found out about it last May when I went to Chicago for NTI.

I have been a nurse for 11 years, so I am with you.... oldie but goodie!! ha. I want this with every cell in my being....mid Jan. couldn't come fast enough!!

Foridaccrn,

How did you interview go? or do you have a feeling either way? Just curious. Hopefully it all went well, I actually learned a few things at my interview-they seemed to love to teach. Good Luck!

LoveHearts-

Do you have any advice on taking the CCRN or preparing for it? I have the Mosby PASS CCRN book that I am going throu right now. If you have any advice I would appreciate it.

The inteview was very intimidating! I wish I would've had more time to brush up on my ccrn material, but overall, I think I did OK; I didn't blow it, but I felt I didn't represent myself as well as I could have. Now the dreadful wait......

they are only taking 4 people and they interviewed 11, so the odds aren't great for my first choice of clinical sites- I just pray to get any site at this point.

Robin Dennison has a great prep book. And I recommend seeing if your hospital has a review class for CCRN. Ours had a 2 day class that hit the hot spots.

Good luck to all you TWU guys! Thought about it but did not apply to TWU. However, I may possibly run into some of you who come to the Cincy site during clinical rotations - I start UC in Sept. 2009 :yeah:

I got a call today to inform me of my acceptance! I was playing golf at the time and started driving about 15 yards further so I must have had a weight lifted off my shoulders. I was surprised to find out so early as they had said middle to late January in the interview. In any case though, I'm pumped. As you guys find out let us know I'm interested to see who I'll be learning with. I've been waiting about 5 or 6 years to write that post.......

Perkizme, My buddy I work with and graduated nursing school with is starting with you at UC this year; I believe another nurse from my facility is as well. I don't think we'll be coming to UC at all for any rotations but we could cross paths at Cincy Childrens.

Wow! That is great Niteynite!! Major congrats! I thought they were still interviewing this weekend?? Did one of the clinical coordinators call you, or someone from admissions in Texas?? Also, you said you have been waiting to post this for 5-6 years....have you applied several times or have you been getting things in order to apply?

Again...that is so awesome!!! I hope I get a call also!!

Niteynite congrats on your acceptance! If you don't mind me asking, when was your interview and will you be at a distance learning site?

Thanks
