Can anyone give a good description of their experiences at Texas Wesleyan distance CRNA program? (Cincinnati, Kentucky area) I am thinking about applying there but I don't know how the program really works?

Thanks,

Hello all. Just joined the site after years of poking around the forums.

I GOT AN INTERVIEW! (and I'm suddenly petrified).

So, even though I feel confident and invigorated, I have begun studying key concepts again and reviewing numbers/diseases/differentials, etc.

Can anyone shed any light on the interview itself? What do/did they ask? Was it rough?

Any info would be a huge help, though I am specifically looking for TWU interviewees as opposed to experiences with other schools.

Thanks everyone :specs:

Dipriman, which clinical site are you applying for? And are you interviewing at the university, or at your clinical site?

Spideyunit,

Do you know how many interviewed for those 12-13 spots??

Hey Need2b, thanks for asking.

I would rather not say (since there are others at my facility who have applied and NO ONE knows I've applied or let alone gotten an interview).

I will be interviewing at the clinical site, to answer your second question.

:-)

Dipriman, I have heard that the TWU interviews are very clinically based and that they don't want to necessarily know 'how much you know' but how you can figure out an answer that you don't know....what you're thinking process is. I have some study material from a current student at Newman University in Wichita, who interviewed with TWU as well. As long as you're not interviewing at the Topeka KS site (and competing with me!!) :) I can send you the study stuff I have.

When is your interview? I called TWU yesterday to see how many students they accept at Topeka...3-5. That's it! And she wouldn't tell me how many interview for those spots. I suppose it's probably better that I don't know. I'm overthinking this whole thing and I wish my interview was today so I could get it over with! :)

Edited by Traumarus: please don't include email addys in your post. Thanks.

lovehearts. i havn't seen jeff around so i have no idea. i think last year it was around 30-somthing. i want to say it was less this year but i really dont know. ive been too focused on school to pay attention to those conversations. goodluck tho!

All I can say about my clinical site is that it is one of the smaller of the group, though as you, I cannot say how many might interview.

As far as study material, I am just reviewing my old CCRN stuff which I still have and keeping my Diepenbrock handbook close for leisure reading. Hope that'll be enough.

I want this so badly, it's consuming me.

More soon :-)

:yeah:Hello guys, I am new to allnurses.com. Just signed up today! My interview at TWU was Dec 7th and I am sure glad it's behind me. I am now just anxiously waiting. There were 7 people in my interview who got down to business right away. I answered many of the questions and some they spoon fed me information and I had to critically think my way to the answer. At first I thought I did poorly because they were guiding me through some but it sounds like they do that on purpose to see how you critically think in a bind. Anyway, they were all very nice. I don't have a feel one way or another. I did learn a few things in the interview-which they all seemed to love to teach. I believe if you don't get in on your first application process you must have your CCRN the next time you apply to TWU. Is that correct? I am studying now for my CCRN, but wont test until spring. I am also curious as to how many applied and how many they accept. Good luck everyone! I was also told that they were doing interviews the weekend of Dec. 7th and they have interviews scheduled the first weekend in January and they would let us know mid January. Oh, and by the way, how many of you out there really calculate Ejection Fractions! When I need it, I ask the echo tech (ha ha):chuckle It is SV/LVEDV !!!

1 heart nurse,

Did you interview at UC as well?

Love hearts,

No, I didnt get an interview. Did you interview at UC? The feedback from UC was not consistent from person to person. My GPA is great, my GRE is good, my recommendations and experience are good but they said it was too competative this year and maybe next year I should have my CCRN. So we'll see; obviously it depends on whether I get into TWU or not. I am studying for my CCRN now-is that something you have done already?

Dipriman,

I know what you mean by wanting this so bad it consumes you. After the interview, I deflated like a popped balloon-it was nice to have it over and be able to relax for a few. After the Holidays I must crack down again & prepare for my CCRN. This is my first year applying but hopefully the last....

1 heart nurse,

I did interview at UC, but didn't get accepted. I do have my CCRN and CMC certification and this is my 2nd year applying. I had a hard time getting a good score on the GRE so had to take it multiple times and I've had to take some classes to increase my GPA. I am hoping as well that this is my last year applying!!
