Texas Tech University ABSN 2024

Published

Hello! This might be a little early, but I wanted to create a group for those applying to Texas Tech ABSN 2024. With applications due in the coming months, I was hoping to have this space for anyone to submit tips or questions that may come up. Thanks!

I took my basic at the community college, but keep in mind if your in another state I think tech requires a (Texas history) or something along those lines. They have a list on the Texas tech website where you can see if your courses will be accepted into the program. Also all interviews are online from what I was told when I did my (Advising appointment) <- I highly recommend doing an advising appointment so they can put a face to your name. ?

I think I have a 100 email thread with my advisor ??. I have never been more determined to do something in my life

@Tatiana S oh okay! Well this is my first time applying so fingers crossed. I heard though they're really also big on if you have past experience, first generation and etc more so than the actual actual cumulative grades. Praying all of us get in though!

@Ckren SAME! As far as I know from talking to my advisor I'm in good shape (fingers crossed) as soon as may 1 comes I'm submitting it ASAP haha

Yeah I have a ton of healthcare experience plus shadowing hours, study abroad and international internships so im hoping the holistic approach helps me out! By the time I apply ill have between 3 and 5 classes left. 2 of them will be completed before application deadline so ill be able to send those grades in before it closes. I am only applying to Dallas!

Which classes will you have left? Also did you graduate from Tech?

@BriNicole0424 I am taking Nutrition in May and then Hist 2, both government, Patho and English. Unfortunately, some of my courses weren't texas core! Not a tech grad, I went to University of Maryland and graduated in 2013.

Hi all! I got accepted to TWU for the Fall, so I'm no longer considering this program, but I just ran across some notes I took in March from an advising session and thought I'd post them here in case it helps anyone.

  • Dallas is the most sought after location and most restricted on how many they can take. Dallas only takes 20-25 students. Depends on how many faculty can take on.
  • They seem to have some kind of scoring system, because she said that if you have any healthcare experience, you get "bonus points". You also get bonus points for having your CNA done, for having your BLS done, and for being a Tech grad (and probably some other things too).
  • Around 70% of students in the ABSN program are on the younger side, in their 20s, and single.
  • Almost all applications will get an interview. Interviews are done via zoom – 2 faculty members and 20-25 minute time frame. 1-2 months to get an official decision.
  • The program is 855 clinical hours broken into 12 hr shifts: 7am-7pm or night shift 7pm-7am.
  • Current Dallas area clinical sites: Methodist – Dallas, Charleton, Mansfield, and Richardson; UTSW; Parkland; Baylor UMC; Medical City Lewisville, Alliance, and Los Colinas.
  • The program is three semesters total. You take 20 hours each semester (!!). 2 week break between each. Program begins with a two week boot camp in person in January and ends in December.
  • [email protected] – can submit any questions there and she can forward them to the program coordinators.

Best of luck to all of you in your nursing journey!

Thanks for this! I was curious about the clinical sites!

Hey everyone,

Would anyone know what they mean by (Resume/Curriculum Vitae) on the application? Are they asking for health profession resume or a resume in general? Are they asking for past volunteer experience?

@BriNicole0424 I work in healthcare so I only have a CV. I put all volunteer work in the actual app. My CV is directly related to my healthcare experience. Only plan to upload a CV.

@Ckren I feel like its just us in this group chat haha, but okay I might need to ask my advisor than because mine is a mixture of healthcare and supervisor background.
