Hello! This might be a little early, but I wanted to create a group for those applying to Texas Tech ABSN 2024. With applications due in the coming months, I was hoping to have this space for anyone to submit tips or questions that may come up. Thanks!

I am almost done with my prerequisites... and just looking at the few options for schools in TX. I have been looking at Tech for ABSN. Is there only 1 start date a year? I only see 1 2023 date on their website!

Hello and thanks for starting the thread. I hope to apply for the Jan 2024 class as well. Finishing my last prereq - pathophys - this semester. Best of luck to you both!!

I am also applying for Jan 2024! I am finishing my last prerequisite as well- pathophysiology. Is anyone graduating from their undergrad Fall 2023 and hoping to start nursing Jan 2024?

Chiming in to this group, as I'm considering applying to TTU for January start. My concern is how selective it seems! Has anyone seen details around acceptance rates for Dallas area?
Background: I am married with young-ish kids. I have a good chance of acceptance to Texas Women's University Nights and Weekends program for a Fall start, based on GPA and TEAS score, but their program requires weekend clinicals hours and evening classes for two years -- and I just don't love that for my husband and our kids. TTU's program format seems HARD but doable for me --- but all that effort to get a CNA and medical terminology done, without knowing if I'll get in... yikes!

From my understanding, you just need to have your CNA and medical terminology done by class start date? You could just get one out of the way now, and wait to do the other once you know whether you get in!
Hello! After reviewing the previous threads, it does seem to be pretty selective. Unfortunately, I am not sure about specific site acceptance rates (I wish I knew). I have seen that about 40 applicants get into Dallas and Austin. I believe the other sites vary between 15-20. At this point, I am completing the courses that are prereqs for multiple colleges. I am considering completing the longer prereqs (CNA) after I (hopefully) receive admission. Good luck!

Hello everyone! I plan to apply for the 2024 cohort that opens in May, but had a few questions. Does anyone know how harsh they're on repeating classes (Chem&Stats)? I have the cumulative GPA and Science GPA of 3.0.

Hi everyone!
I, too, am applying for Jan 2024 start date. I will have 3 pre-reqs still outstanding by application close. Super nervous for this whole process!

Not sure how harsh, but I definitely have repeated a few courses for better grades. I think they replace the old grades with the new ones, so how harsh could they be?
@Ckren
I hope they aren't too crazy over it, but I also am trying to figure out how much the program is in total and what options there are to pay for it if FAFSA dosent cover it. ??♀️

Im in the same boat!! All I can tell you is DO NOT use sallie mae. I went to ultrasound school in 2016 and used both FASFA and sallie mae and they interest rates with sallie mae was disgusting. My parents had to bail me out and pay it in full because it was like 1500+ a month to pay back. Im going to see how much I get from FASFA and try to pay the rest out of pocket/apply to every single scholarship if I get in.

Hello everyone,
I'm also looking into applying AGAIN to their ABSN program for 2024, and was wondering which websites are y'all using to get your medical terminology certificate?
