Texas Tech University ABSN 2024

Published

Hello! This might be a little early, but I wanted to create a group for those applying to Texas Tech ABSN 2024. With applications due in the coming months, I was hoping to have this space for anyone to submit tips or questions that may come up. Thanks!

Hello everyone,

I'm also looking into applying AGAIN to their ABSN program for 2024, and was wondering which websites are y'all using to get your medical terminology certificate?

I took it as part of my Ultrasound program a few years ago, but I read on prior forums that people found it on Coursera!

I took an actual course through my community college ($355) for it.

Would anyone know the only reason you would not get accepted into Tech program? I know their traditional BSN program was competitive and this is why I took the ABSN route. I know they're competitive, but I think it would put my mind at ease knowing what they're looking /interested in.

Hi, from my understanding the main thing that makes or breaks you is your interview with them. This is my 3rd time applying, and I believe that was why I was denied the first time.

Hey guys! I am currently a student at OU and have all of the prereqs besides POLS 1301/2305 and POLS 2302/2306... has anyone taken these classes at a community college?

Would you mind sharing your stats? Do you have prior healthcare experience? I saw on the webinar most people who meet minimum requirements get an interview so it is probably weighed super heavily. I hope they're in person this year and not over zoom!

I am taking them this Summer at a community college ?

Are they listed as these exact course numbers at your community college?

@Tatiana S so I assume you have to a answer it a certain way. I was told they're really big on (support system) so if you don't have a support system at home during school that could be a big factor into some don't get accepted.

Yes, I do have a few years of prior healthcare experience, and It was on Zoom last year not in person.

Yes because I am taking them in Texas so they have a system where most of the course numbers match each other. However, I used the transfer equivalency tool HEAVILY to match all my courses so I highly recommend it!

Yes they are expecting certain answers for certain questions they ask, and also yes that is important. But during my interview I expressed that to them, and I still wasn't accepted. I honestly was just VERY nervous.

I took my basic at the community college, but keep in mind if your in another state I think tech requires a (Texas history) or something along those lines. They have a list on the Texas tech website where you can see if your courses will be accepted into the program. Also all interviews are online from what I was told when I did my (Advising appointment) <- I highly recommend doing an advising appointment so they can put a face to your name. ?
