Texas Tech University ABSN 2024

Hello! This might be a little early, but I wanted to create a group for those applying to Texas Tech ABSN 2024. With applications due in the coming months, I was hoping to have this space for anyone to submit tips or questions that may come up. Thanks!

@BriNicole0424 bahaha I know! I hope more people join! And I do have one one supervisory role in my CV, but it is healthcare related so I included it! What do you do in healthcare?

@Ckren the only thing I truly have is working for a nursing home. I also work for the state with APS. Those would be the only things I'd have close to the health field.

I have a current LPN License and applied to this program hope this could be a plus for my app!

I think that will definitely be a plus! My advisor told me prior healthcare experience gives you preference!

Do they just consider GPA or is it overall? My GPA isn't as competitive as I want it to be so I'm hoping my LVN license can give me some leverage to show I can do it!

So the healthcare experience gives preference, however, they do look at overall cumulative GPA as well as science GPA based on their 5 science prerequisites

@LMT202 my advisor told me they first consider first generation and Texas Tech alumn then they go down to Work history and GPA.

I am taking it through my local community college! I don't think there are any prereqs for patho

Is it through HCC? I keep trying to sign up for it but it says I have to take a course called medical terminology and if I go that route I'll miss the Spring 2024 deadline ?

I am taking it through Collin College! I know you need medical terminology for this program, but I think you can just take it online as a certificate class.

If you have anatomy 1&2 most programs should allow you to take patho. I am taking mine through MCC and the requirements is either A&P I,II or Medical Terminology.
