Texas Tech University ABSN 2024

Published

Hello! This might be a little early, but I wanted to create a group for those applying to Texas Tech ABSN 2024. With applications due in the coming months, I was hoping to have this space for anyone to submit tips or questions that may come up. Thanks!

If you have anatomy 1&2 most programs should allow you to take patho. I am taking mine through MCC and the requirements is either A&P I,II or Medical Terminology.

I'll try and talk to HCC to see if I could take it since I've taken AP1 and AP2 and I don't want to delay my timeline just because I haven't taken Medical Terminology.

Hi! This is my first year applying after finally deciding this was the path I wanted.

I'm pretty nervous because while my GPA looks pretty good, I don't have any experience in health care whatsoever. I also am not first gen, no prior affiliation with texas tech, no study abroad, etc. the most I have is working as a volunteer for a psychology research lab up until a year ago. Is there anyone else on this boat who really has no extra curriculars and worked in something completely different than health care (I did banking)?

Realistically, do I have a chance getting in? Do you know of anybody who got in with my similar situation ? Ideally I'm looking at San Antonio/Austin.

Hi!! While I do not know anyone who has gone through this program, I have read every single past forum. There are definitely people who have gotten in with little to no healthcare experience. It's not a requirement, just gives you "preference.” If your GPA is great and you rock your interview im sure youll have a great chance!

@iipinkette Like @Ckren stated you will still have chance to get in/ be interviewed. I personally don't know anyone in this program, but the past forums what I have read/noticed a good majority of applicants will get an interview and that's where the actual decision making is. If it's like the traditional program I know the one questions they're big on is "who your support system will be during the program".  I'm also applying to the Austin/San Antonio cohort ?. You'll do great I say apply! And just see what happens.

From my understanding, you just need to have your CNA and medical terminology done by class start date? You could just get one out of the way now, and wait to do the other once you know whether you get in!

I saw this requirement and it deterred me away.

Did you get accepted?

Would anyone know if we are allowed to change one of our school selections (ex: San Antonio) for a different one?

I would email (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) or any of the advisors to see if you can change it, I know you can most likely add a location during your interview, but I have not read about anyone changing completely

Has everyone applied?! Do you think we will hear about interviews in next 2 weeks?

I'm actually shocked that no one has commented in this thread like the previous years, but I applied and was told we should find out before July is over since interviews take place in August. Good luck! ?

Oh yeah I'm not sure why I thought it would be so early ?. Looking back on past forums I think we have a good month. The anticipation is killing me!

Me too! I was really hoping for a forum like in the past years! No one understands the anticipation and nerves like the others applying!

Same hopefully that's a good sign that not a lot of people applied and we have a good chance of getting in!! Those past forums were pretty full! ??
