Texas Tech University ABSN 2025

Published

Hi there! Just wanted to start a forum for those applying to the Texas Tech University ABSN 2025 program! Have you guys sent out your application? 🙂

I have! Do you know if there is an interview process? How likely is one to get their first choice campus?

I saw from previous posts they submitted recorded responses to interview questions. I'm not sure on the stats of acceptance to the program.

Do you know anyone else who has applied or of any other forums/posts for this cohort?

During my advising appointment, they said that it all depends on the location's faculty availability/size. That's the only factor I know of that is outside of our holistic application review. Please anyone correct or add if inaccurate. I could have remembered wrong and the appointment was a few months back.😭

I watched the informational video they had for this year. They had mentioned that about 700 students applied and around 200 were accepted. This covers the whole ABSN program (all the sites).

My science GPA for the prerequisites is a 4.0. I'm not entirely sure what my overall GPA is because I graduated from a foreign university. I have my BLS, Medical Terminology, and have taken a CNA course. I am currently finishing up a lang/phil/cult prerequisite. I don't have direct patient interaction experience, but I have been working as a Medical Technologist for the last 3 years. I would love to hear everyone else's standing/experience/advice :)

Specializes in RETIRED Cath Lab/Cardiology/Radiology.

There are two ways to create a special place for your cohort:

One, a Facebook link is allowed, per the Terms of Service.

Two, members with at least 15+ posts OR who have purchased a Platinum membership can create a student "Club" for their cohort.

  • Click on the "Breakroom/Clubs" link under "Communities" at the top of any page in the upper left on desktop or "Breakroom" under "Special Sections" in the upper right on mobile.
  • Click "Start a Breakroom Club".
  • The person creating the club must invite others to be members.

You may post social or mobile application links once in a private group. Keep in mind, clubs will not be moderated, unless a member reports an issue.

Thank you for being part of the allnurses community.

I got the same email! I assume the questions might be nursing related or ethical questions... but I agree it sounds intense because you cant rerecord anything LOL

Yeah or something about why we want to be nurses or if we have past experience or something like that. My mom says (yes I asked my mom LOL) that we should try practicing speaking for 3 minutes about any topic just to feel for how much time we actually get and practice how to answer questions off the top of your head. I'm more nervous about the speaking questions than I am about the written answer ones because my words always come to me easier when I'm writing LOL.

Do you know if we're able to view the questions before we start?

Yes! You can view the written questions before you start but not the video ones, just a one word descriptor of it? Like Integrity or something is one of them. If you go to your application portal it's on the dashboard at the bottom.

Thank you! I've only looked at it on my phone so far. Also, in previous application cycles it looks like they didn't send out invitations until august. Hopefully that means they didn't have a lot of applicants this cycle!
