Has anyone done this program? Or has anyone been accepted to this program?? I am wanting to start this program next Fall, and I just wanted some input. Thanks!!!

Hey Kstar! I had my interview last month - the ladies were very nice and will make you feel comfortable. I was actually the very first person to be interviewed and once I foud that out, I was very nervous. I have a 4.0 and I have been volunteering in the ER for 18 months so I feel like I have that part taken care...now I just have to hope I didnt foul up in the interview phase. Good luck with your email and maybe (fingers crossed :) we will be meeting soon!

Oh wow! I'm sure that must have been nerve wracking!!! But I'm sure you did well!

I'm taking pathophysiology online with TTUHSC right now and one of my classmates told that pretty much everyone during that October session of interviews had 4.0s. He wasn't lying, now that I see your post:eek:

One of my classmates on there said he was very surprised at some of the questions and didn't really like the what they asked, etc. But then again, it's all subjective. My experience with TTUHSC's professors, admissions advisors and even Ms. Taylor has been incredibly positive so I'm actually really excited to start, IF I get in.

Good luck to us both!!!

KStar,

keep in mind that I have a couple of friends with 3.4s CGPA and 3.5 Science GPA that have graduated from that program.... You guys (KStar, RN2benaustin,etc) will be fine!

Just realized posting on iPhone doesn't work so well:) of course I meant good luck with the interview! On the questions- I felt like they were fine- pretty much what I expected with general "why do you want to be a nurse?" to more individualistic questions that pertain to info they have based on your essay. I'm so excited to find some more people on here going thru the same angst. I'm moving (still in Austin) in 2 weeks and that's keeping my mind off TT a little- but I have recently turned 2 jobs down hoping that I would get in and we could have really used the extra income (hence home sell). Just be yourself - getting to the interview phase is huge! That means you already meet their gpa and experience expectations!

mlh0283,

Thanks for that, hearing that (err, seeing that, haha) is a little relieving :)

RN2BNAUSTIN,

I know how you feel. I just got married a few months ago and have a great job right now that pays well but I'll be resigning soon. Also, thanks about the info regarding the interview. So are the interviews just basically a means to put a face to all the papers they have on us with our GPA, work resume, essay, etc? If we got passed the grade and experience requirements, what are they basing rejections on during the interviews? Perhaps general demeanor and personality? Verbal eloquence? That's all I can really think of...:o

RN2BNAUSTIN,

One more thing, do you know anything about the housing that may be available in that area? Do you know if TTUHSC is affliated with any particular areas for student housing or anything like that? I know UTA is a few blocks away and housing is available there, but I don't want to stay in a dorm or anything. Any info about housing there, student apartments near UMC?

Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone - just wanting to get an update from everyone that applied. I got in and could not be happier. I sure hope you all got in too and we will be meeting next week :)

RN2BNAUSTIN,

I didn't get into TTUHSC's program, but I DID get in to University of Houston - Victoria's (sugar land campus) 2nd degree program! I begin classes on 1/19 :)

Although we didn't get into the same school, I'm glad we got in anywhere at all! Congratulations to you and I wish you the best of luck! I have a friend who I took patho with thru TTUHSC and I hope you guys do great!

Take care and keep us updated on how nursing school is there!!

Congrats on getting into your program as well - It sounds like we have a tough year ahead of us :)

Thank you, RN2BNAUSTIN! I'm all sorts of nervous right now! I know this program is going to be super intense but I'm so excited I can barely contain myself! I had to get fingerprinted earlier this week and I got my notice for my random drug screen for tomorrow.

Same here - all kinds of things that I need to have complete before orientation next week. To make matters worse, we moved the day before Thanksgiving and I had surgery 5 days later. So I'm 10 days post op and not getting around too well. But it will all work out. Exciting times ahead - I'm up for the challenge...bring it on:up:

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear about your surgery! I'm sure you'll be in tip top shape in no time, but especially with it being so cold now, I'm sure it's hard. I hope you feel better soon!

I know EXACTLY how you feel (in regards to preparing for the program). I'm going to be moving closer to the campus because from where I live now, it's about 45 minutes WITHOUT traffic...and here in Houston, that means I'd have to leave my house every morning by 5am. There is no way I'm doing that 5 days a week (one thing I was looking forward to with TTUHSC's program were the online classes, haha!). However, I recently found out that a lot of UHV's classes are "closed circuit TV" courses, so we have to go to class, but there isn't always a professor there conducting lecture...weird! Also, how many days a week does TTUHSC have clinicals for the 2nd degree program? UHV is 3 days a week.

We will have 2 (12 hour) shifts per week. And I guess the rest is online but I think they encourage classmates to form study groups and work together alot. I have 1 friend that got accepted so that will be nice, but I'm sure that I will be meeting many new friends soon. I really cant wait - its all I think about these days...just want to start!
