Have a friend in this program. My friend HATES it. Sorry, but my friend says the program is unorganized and the coaches/teachers aren't all that great and Texas Tech isn't all that involved or concerned with resolving students' issues.. Just my friends view. My friend is wishing they had gone to a regular nursing program.

Well I'm glad some other folks are looking into Texas Tech's second degree bsn. I'm still working on my prereqs, but I still cannot find anyone who has completed the program. I had originally planned to start this year, but I had to take a year off from coursework. Does anyone know anyone from this forum that has gone through this program? I keep hearing the someone who knows someone that completed the program, but I have been unsuccessful in trying to find anyone that has completed the program. If anyone has completed the program, please share your thoughts on the program. Any information would greatly be appreciated.

Any updates on this? I have just started the TAMU cc eline program and I have some concerns and I am looking back into Tech. I dont want to leave 1 program just to find the same problems with another. Thanks in advance...
I just spoke with an Advisor at tech and she said the program requires 100 hours a week - 20 of those being clinicals. Can someone that is in the program or completed the program give me an example of how that is set up? Do you have set days for clinicals or does that change week to week? Are they usually at night or day? I have 3 kids, ages 10, 12 and 5 so I am needing to figure out about how much I will be spending in child care costs in addition to the program.

I graduated from the 2nd degree program at Texas Tech University in August. The program requires that you spend 2 clinical days in the hospital (12 hour shifts) per week, but you are assigned a coach and you work when he/she works so your schedule can vary. I do not have any children, but our instructors are very accomodating to those students who did. The program is online, with no class time, which I loved!! It is time consuming, but I never spent 100 hours per week doing classes/clinicals/assignments, it's more like 40 hours (think of it like a full time job). Instructors are always available via cell phone or email and respond quickly! Also, each clinical site has a retention counselor that is available to meet with you at anytime and review anything you might have trouble with. I loved the program, but it is fast and you have to stay organized!
If anyone has questions, feel free to message me! Best of luck!!

KStar,
Of all people, I am sure that you will be just fine. Just think that you're already in and they just need some additional info, verbally, from you. I'm sure you have it in the bag!!! Go get YOUR spot!!!!!
Hey Kstar! I had my interview last month - the ladies were very nice and will make you feel comfortable. I was actually the very first person to be interviewed and once I foud that out, I was very nervous. I have a 4.0 and I have been volunteering in the ER for 18 months so I feel like I have that part taken care...now I just have to hope I didnt foul up in the interview phase. Good luck with your email and maybe (fingers crossed :) we will be meeting soon!

You are too nice! Thank you for that...but I heard from a classmate that had his interview last month that he and everyone who were there for that session had 4.0s.
Just trying to stay optimistic...but again, thank you! And good luck to you!
I also heard they are taking more people this year - getting an interview is a huge step in the right direction. You will do great. I would have preferred to be in this coming round of interviews because you dont have to wait and replay every answer for over a month.
