I am applying for Texas Tech's Accelerated BSN program. So I wanted to start a thread for all Fall2013 hopefuls. I think I am going to apply to both Austin and the other location that is not El Paso(I can't think of the name)
Does everyone have *their* 500 word essay written and emailed to the coordinator? Anyone familiar with Texas Tech's interview process? Anyone that has gone through the process and did not get accepted? I thought I read that in another thread.
Oops sorry for the error I wasn't able to find a form to edit my post.
Why is everyone so silent? Are you all going to summer school? Just wondering since I hadn't seen a response in some time.
Good Luck to everyone on their interviews..... I wish there were more Amarillo folks on here...but since there is none.... I hope to meet at least one person there. I am thinking of looking at apartments at the same time while I am out in Amarillo for the interview.
I read several good posts from previous cohorts on the forums about the interview a few months ago, I can't seem to find them now, please post the link if you do find them, and I will do the same.I have not seen or heard anything about this 500 word essay?
This is directly from my interview email:
An essay is also required and must be emailed BY noon Tuesday June 11,
2013. The Second Degree BSN program is a rigorous, internet-based curriculum.
Due to the intensive use of technology, suitable computer skills are necessary
for completing degree requirements. The computer/writing skills component of
the admission process will assist the admissions committee in determining your
level of computer knowledge, as well as your capability for undergraduate-level
written work.
Please read and follow the following essay instructions carefully. The
essay should be double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12 point font Word document,
also put your name on each page of the essay. Please answer the following
questions in 500 words or less (not 500 words per question).
1. This program requires you to be a self-starter and accountable for
much of your own learning. What is your experience with independent learning
and what skills do you possess that will help you to be successful in this type
of program?
2. In order to help us get to know you better, please share a life
experience or an interesting fact about yourself (i.e. foreign travel, previous
career, leadership role/skill, etc.)

I found this... not sure if this is what you were referring to:
Hello cass1320. I believe that my interview went well. I was fussing about nothing. I was interviewed by 2 ladies. They were both nice. -------- and -------- also told us what to expect. They are so nice. They ask why I wanted to be a nurse, why do I think I'll be successful in the program, how are my computer skills on a scale of 1-10. Do I have a support system while going through the program. and that was it. They asked me if I had any questions for them, they answered my questions and the interview was over. Afterwards you get to meet with current students. I asked them a lot of questions. Take advantage of that. I am interested in meeting somewhere I just wouldn't know where lol. How long are you in Lubbock for?
