I’m not sure if it’s too early to start this thread, but anyone on here planning on applying to Texas Tech’s Second Degree program in May?
Hi everybody! I just submitted my application today for the Austin cohort. Now the wait begins...
Can someone also send me the links to the webinars? I watched the one from last year, but I can't find where to sign up for them for the ones this year! My email is [email protected] or you can post a link in a comment here :)
I also wanted to respond to a couple of things. Regarding the BLS certification, the university website notes that it has to be through the American Heart Association, and I don't think that the online course mentioned previously is. Make sure you double-check so that you don't have to go back and redo it later! I took mine through KareCore in Round Rock (https://karecoretx.com/) - I did the classroom portion online then did the skills portion in person. It was one-on-one on her front porch and she provided gloves. She was great and I highly recommend it! It was $85 total for both the online and skills portions.
I took my medical terminology course online through Coursera. It was free to do the course and then after I passed I just had to pay $49 for the certificate. We'll see if it gets kicked back, but I believe it should be valid!
Hey y'all,
I submitted my application on May 1st, for the Amarillo cohort (1st) and SA as my second. Is anyone else applying to Amarillo? Also, can someone send me the link to the webinar? [email protected].
Does anyone have any suggestions for CNA courses? Preferably one that is no more than a few weeks long. It's one of the only requirements I have left to fulfill, but the program here where I live is a 12 week program, and I do not want to take one that long if I can avoid it! Thanks in advance!
Hey guys,
For those who need to complete their med. term. certification, check out this website through Texas Tech, I paid $120-$130 I believe. Hope this helps and good luck everyone!

Does anyone know if the CNA requirement can be obtained online or if there are even classes offered online? I can always take it at my community college here, but hate to miss work.
Hi! I believe you have to have clinical hrs to get a CNA. So you could probably do coursework online and go to the school in person at most places
There is another webinar on Friday! If you send in an inquiry or submit your application, they’ll email you each time there’s one coming up so you can RSVP.
Also regarding CNA, you won’t be able to do it 100% online as there are clinical hours required. But they also have said you no longer get preference for having it done before you apply, you just have to have it done by the time the program starts!

Yes I was accepted into the program, but didn't finish the semester. It wasn't the right school for me and the timing was off, I had a lot of stuff going on. It was a good program for the most part! I switched majors to Kinesiology in hopes to do OT but went back to nursing LOL. So now that I have a bachelors in Kinesiology, I am able to apply for the ABSN program! I have much better hope for this program.

Why wasn’t it a good fit for you? (sorry I’m applying there too so I’m a little wary now)
