Texas Tech Accelerated 2nd Degree Program 2021

Published

I’m not sure if it’s too early to start this thread, but anyone on here planning on applying to Texas Tech’s Second Degree program in May?

Hey guys! How can you tell if they received your transcript? Where can I find it in the application?

Hey there! Applying to Austin cohort - anyone else applying to ATX that has their CNA? If so, where do you recommend? I find options are fairly limited.

Once you submit your application, there will be a list of your colleges/universities that you attended that will populate. You will either have a green check or a red "x" showing if they've received it or not. It takes time for it to populate. I sent mine back in April and it still hasn't shown up yet so I am trying to be patient.

Specializes in STICU.

Hi All! Anyone in the DFW area? Does Texas Tech have a Dallas cohort? I'm interested in the ABSN program but can't find enough information online that talks about the Dallas cohort. Would I ever have to travel to the main campus in Lubbock for anything? Also, did anyone with part-time without issues AND what was your experience like during the program? What hospitals in Dallas did you do your clinical rotations? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks in advance!

I took mine at Centeal Texas Nurse Network. The people are super friendly and nice and you can take the certification ASAP but the location and their school is kinda bad (like old building).

im also applying for Austin! What are your stats?! Is this your first time applying?

Cool - I was a tad leery based on the building, but I've heard most have gone there given the lack of options. Stats are 4.0 science, 3.8 overall, 90 TEAS, 6 months experience in hospital for both ER and Newborn units, BLS certified - waiting on CNA. I applied in 2018 and withdrew right after getting an interview for timing reasons.

Hey guys! Is anyone applying who doesn't live close to any of the education sites? I'm totally open to moving to another city for nursing school (and I think it would be fun to live somewhere else for a year). Is anyone else in a similar situation or know if they prefer students who already live near the cohort they choose?

It’s also the cheapest option and you can do your classes in a week! I really recommend!
Did you do the interview? Do you know what kinda of questions they ask?

Confirming -- you can get the entire certification done in a week? Also, I did get the interview, but withdrew before selecting a time/date so I have no idea what questions would be asked. Sorry!

Yeah, as soon as you start you will schedule your test for the next available date and then you can learn all the skills in a week!

Hey! I'm applying to the Austin location & I have my CNA but I'm out of state ☹️

Specializes in Medical Assistant.

@sunnyyy I do not live at any of the locations however, I plan to move to any of the sites if accepted I have family in some of the location cohorts. I pray I will still get an interview even if I don't physically live at any of the location cohorts because I plan to relocate that's why I decided to work awhile before applying to nursing school.
