Texas Tech ABSN 2023

Hi! I am a current student and created this thread to connect applicants as it was helpful to me when I was going through the application process! Good luck on your applications!

I really think they might weed people out based on who accepts their location and pays the deposit by the deadline, but I don't see why they wouldnt just send everything  out and still use that logic.

I haven’t heard of any denial letters going out. I applied for the Dallas cohort as well and I’m still waiting. I’m not a fan of this waiting period, especially knowing that acceptance letters have gone out. It makes me anxious and worried that I didn’t get accepted.

I know more people that are still waiting to be accepted than people that were accepted, so that gives me a little hope. I called twice and one person basically said applications are still being reviewed and the second person said wait until mid October to receive either a denial or acceptance letter. I’ve been on edge since Monday. Hopefully we will receive our acceptance letters soon.

We are limited to what we can discuss on here due to their policies/procedures but I’d be happy to chat via facebook, text, etc.

As a reminder, there are 2 approved ways to create a special area for your cohort that align with the Terms of Service. Any other references will be removed.

There are two Terms of Service-approved ways to create a special place for your cohort.

1 - Create a facebook page. This link may be posted.

2 - Create a "club" for your cohort by clicking on the Breakroom link in the yellow bar (upper right).

  • Click START A BREAKROOM CLUB in the green bar at the top of the page. Follow instructions.
  • References to other than these two avenues will be moved from view, to comply with the Terms of Service.

Thank you.

It is mostly self-taught. You get weekly readings and assignments that you are responsible for and each site has a retention counselor that holds study group/exam reviews for the major classes (fundamentals, pharm, chronic, acute). We do not have a campus - all didactics are online. We meet in person to take exams and do simulations at a designated hospital. The hospitals we attend clinical at are Methodist Hospital, University Hospital, and CHRISTUS Santa Rosa.

How often are the exam reviews and exams/simulations? Do you know which hospitals in Austin for clinicals and can do we have any say at all with clinical coach/site? I also have a question about the 2 week breaks bn semesters. Is it possible to schedule a vacation during these times or are we going to need to use that time to study/prep for the next semester. Thanks and any other tips for success are appreciated!

Where are you all taking the CNA course to receive your certificate? I’m hoping to find something 100% online.

I don't think there is a 100% online CNA course that is state approved.  The one I found is in round rock and they do the lecture part via zoom and the other 2 weeks are clinical.  The name of the company is healthcare career center, website  is: https://www.nurse-aides.com/. They have great reviews online and seem very friendly on the phone.  I am doing orientation with them next Monday.

Has anyone gotten any updates? its looking like they're giving people until tomorrow to pay their deposits and accept their offer (by 5 pm cst) and then I think they will disperse more offers based on that. I read that they won't send out denials until october.

No have not. It is frustrating not knowing when we will know anything ?

I called and the person said it has nothing to do with people paying the mi way. Said they are still going thru applications and they have until the middle of October.

Said  don’t count yourself out that they haven’t finished. It has nothing to do with waves of people accepting them sending out more.

Any updates y’all?

last I heard, everyone who was accepted so far has until 5 pm to pay their deposit and accept their offer.
