Texas Tech ABSN 2023

Published

Hi! I am a current student and created this thread to connect applicants as it was helpful to me when I was going through the application process! Good luck on your applications!

I am looking into this program. I have a BA in Education and have been an LVN for 17 years. One of the requirements listed on the website is needing your CNA cert. I wonder if that would be applicable to me considering I am a licensed nurse LOL. I have already reached out to the school and asked that question, but I figured I might get a faster response here!

I’m an LVN as well I was told that healthcare experience does help you stand out. I was just accepted so the LVN licenses covers the having to take the CNA course and also I didn’t need to take medical terminology.

PERFECT! Do you mind if I ask you a few questions?

No of course not !

Okay here we go LOL

1. What campus did you apply for? Or "site" I guess is the correct terminology

2. How were your pre-req grades? Additionally, How old were they? Example, my sciences are over 5 years old

3. How was the admin process? Do you have a rough estimate of how long it took from the time you applied to the time you got your acceptance?

Sorry for the 1654146584651 questions!

No worries!

My first choice was Austin than Dallas, I got accepted into the Austin campus so my first choice (YAY!).

My grades were decent, As and Bs tbh on the science portion I had the Bs, everything else the As. I did LVN school in 2018, which means my science are now 5 years or older.
my bachelors I did get at Texas tech so that helped, and I am a veteran I think that helped as well.

I applied early! So I submitted my application when it opened because I had pretty much everything completed. The application closes July 15, in august I got my interview and than I found out I got in September 16, which this cycle it took longer than usual to know. Usually it takes 3-4 weeks but I guess they had a lot of applications? So we all did find out late.

Well that is just awesome! So happy for you! Thank you again for all of your help. Getting a little excited now. Unfortunately for me, I will have to wait a while as applications open again May 1st, but that will give me time to get all of my ducks in a row ( a lot of time LOL) and hoping to get an acceptance letter/email!

No problem! Yes use the time to get everything together!! While I waited for the application to open is when I took Pathophysiology which is good. Cuz u get accepted but it’s a conditional acceptance since they give u time I have everything. Since I had everything and an lvn my blue card came asap so after I got accepted I just been waiting I did orientation and now I’m officially a student like I have a place in the program cuz they gta make sure u do get all the prerequisites. Some student are still finishing up classes or getting their CNA/BLS which since we are already LVNs we’re good.

good luck to you!!

Hey do you mind emailing me? I have a few more questions if you have the time! [email protected]

Thanks so much!

Hey everyone,

I plan to apply for the 2024 cycle and have a few questions.

1. What were the GPA y’all had when applying and the grades (A&B) or a mixture?

I have a 3.0 and up cumulative and in science courses with good grades (A&B). I have repeated classes way back when and hope this wouldn’t hurt me now.

any advice…

Not currently in the program, but applying as well! I am applying with a 4.0 for sciences (patho won't be completed until after application close so that could change) and cumulative is around a 3.7 I believe. I have repeated courses over the years!

Last year I got my decision back September 17 ?

I'm on deferment so I will be starting in January class of 2023

If you don't mind me asking, what is the process for deferment? Do you accept the offer and then fill out a deferment form?
