I know applications are just going out but I thought I would start a thread so that anyone applying to Texas State this semester can share their stats/questions/comments
Im currently sitting at a:
Prerequisite: 3.55
Science: 3.39
Teas: 93 composite & 99th percentile
What about you guys?
Yes they changed their policy from just taking top 100 to wanting 60 internal transfers and 40 outside transfers if able. Used to be just top 100 but they want to give some preference to students already attending Texas state. I was going to transfer in to finish my pre-requisites In case it helped but they said I had to have at least thirty hours at Texas state to be Considered a part of that group.
Oh dang I didn't know that! How new is the policy?
Hi there! For your first semester clinicals/sim lab what time were those? Do you get to pick the times or are you in the hospital setting? Also did anyone's advisor ever give them clues about how the process is going? I am so impatient! Haha
During the first semester, most of your "clinical" time is spent in the simulation (SIM) lab. You do end up going to the hospital setting towards the end of the semester- maybe 4 times, IIRC. SIM labs started at 8am (I think?? I'm already forgetting) and those are on campus. We were to report to our clinical sites at 6:30am.
During your junior year through first semester of senior year, you do not have a choice as to where your clinicals take place. They are anywhere in Austin and the surrounding area (including RR, Georgetown and even Belton for J2).
Second semester of junior year, you are in the clinical setting more often- I want to say we have 4 SIM labs this semester and are at the hospital the other 11 (?) times.
Thank you! I ended up receiving the email for the background check this morning!
Hi Kelly! So got my background email and set up my fingerprint appt. Did it really take 10 minutes? Also more importantly did you need to do anything else on the Bon website or just go to the appt.? My understanding looking at it is that the code connected means they know what we are doing this for so we go there and then will let us know next steps? Do they give you card that day and all the info you need or just send you on your way and mail to whomever needs to get info? I know...a lot of questions :).

i went to get mine done last week, and it probably took less than ten minutes. I didn't take anything else with me besides my drivers license and form of payment. You get your finger prints done electronically and they send that information to the dps,FBI, and the board of nursing and they ask you for the mailing address and they will send you a card in the mail. Once you get the card in the mail I think you make a copy of it and mail the original copy of the card to St. Davids.
