I know applications are just going out but I thought I would start a thread so that anyone applying to Texas State this semester can share their stats/questions/comments
Im currently sitting at a:
Prerequisite: 3.55
Science: 3.39
Teas: 93 composite & 99th percentile
What about you guys?
So my friends just received the email about the background check (they got it at the same time and their names weren't addressed in the email so it sounds like it was a mass email). I however didn't receive the email and am kind of worried..they think that it's because my last name starts with an N which would be in the second half of the alphabet (their last names start with A and L). So I was wondering if anyone else didn't receive the email?? It makes me think I did something wrong in my application..so could you respond with whether you received the email or not and what your last name starts with. That would really make me feel better about this whole situation! Thanks!
It sounds like they are ahead of the game this year! I went back to look when we go the background check email- I received mine on March 4th. If you go back to last year's thread, it looks like the date range was about mid-Feb to early March? In other words, no, they were not all sent out in a mass email.
but could you tell me how classes are scheduled weekly? Like do you go to class T/R only or do you have class M-F? Is everything mandatory or can you make your own schedule?
If they keep it the same, your first semester, you will have class M, T, TH and then a simulation lab or clinical on W or F. Second semester, you will have a sim lab/clinical on Monday, a different sim lab/ clinical on Tuesday and then class W-F. Our W/F class starts at 8am and clinicals start at 6:30 or 7:30, depending on the site. Like Charles said, you don't have a say in where you are placed for clincals. I'm one of the folks who hauls up to Belton for one of mine.
While a 1.5 hr commute might sound doable, 3 hrs in the car would probably get to be hard when you have an exam every week on top of other assignments pouring in. Some students have chosen to get apartments close to the school- there are plenty to choose from. Others have looked at places in Austin or other towns in the surrounding area.

Thank you! I ended up receiving the email for the background check this morning!
Ugh I got an email today but it said that they received my application and to make sure and send all updated transcripts to Texas state up to fall. Then it said that they would send updates on status at the end of March. ???? No talk of drug test. I don't know what this means kind of freaking me out! Anyone in program Know of people getting this instead of drug test or before? Or anyone else get this similar email?

Yeah I got that same email back in January but have yet to receive the email
about a background check.
K great ! I read on past discussions some people didn't get background checks email till way later but still got in so going to try my best to keep my hopes up as I'm sure you will be too! I'm thinking me being a transfer maybe they will be screening their internal transfers first but just a thought I had since they want to prioritize their own students with the new 60/40 thing. But I don't know that from anywhere. Did yours also say the part about making sure transcripts are updated through fall 2016 in a nutshell, and are you also transferring from another school? Curious :)

yeah mine said the make sure final transcripts are in as well. I am transferring from another school so that could be a possibility.
I got the email about them receiving my application at the end of January and it said the same thing about sending new transcripts and I'm already a student at Texas state university so I wouldn't worry about that. I didn't know about the 60/40 thing?? Did the nursing school tell you that?
