I'm not discouraging you at all. I'm sorry if it came off that way! I was a transfer into txst and so many more were as well... if you have the GPA and TEAS scores you'll be fine. Especially, if the turnout of applications is low

Texas State University Fall 2017
The professors that is apart of the admissions committee said that if you were a TXST student and met the requirements you are almost guaranteed entrance. This will probably change once more people start to apply. This professor did mention that there has been a decline in applications over the years and they are trying to understand why, so If y'all come across any hurdles once you get accepted please pass the information along and I will let her know to help them in the future. Good luck to everyone tomorrow. I know exactly how anxious yall feel. Just remember getting into nursing school is the easy part compared to what you are about to endure. So stay on your deadlines and make sure you are prepared for this upcoming fall!! You will all do great!

It's Texas State's policy that if you retake a course they will take the second attempt. The first isn't factored.. :)

Texas State University Fall 2017
Last years scores were the most competitive out of all years previous to ours. If you are above or around our avaerge and have good TEAS scores. You are solid.

I dont live with any students or random people. I did that my freshman year and would never do it again lol I have my own place. There are plenty of people who matched up prior to starting school and got places together.

Thats a great idea. Making friends quick and tackling nursing school would be your best bet. Yall will probably either A) Have to take the toll everyday or B) Wake up early enough to beat that traffic. Austin only gets bigger and it is soooo busy in Austin and then again when you get to where our school is located.

I would suggest you move. It would be to much of a commute everyday and then when clinicals start you will have to wake up extremely early. We already stay up all night as it is studying. There are people who live pretty far and they are making due but I wouldn't risk it. It is all up to you and what you think you can handle; however, I think it wouldn't be the best choice. There are some people this semester that go to Belton for clincal and we dont have a choice in where we are put so you could pull the short end of the straw and have to drive extremely far. Everyone I know who was San Marcos students originally have all moved up to Round Rock. We have no flexibility in our schedule. What they choose for us to do is what we have to do. The first semester you will have one day off but even though you have no class scheduled for that day you still have to go to school for other reasons ( Check offs, Sim Lab, etc ) So you will have class M-F and only one clinical day, which was easy. The most you get to "Customize" your schedule is like if you want a Weds or Fri Clinical/SimLab, but like I said you will be at the school the other day anyways.

TXST should send you information about everything you need to do. You wont get confirmation that they retrieved your application yet. I believe I got mine sometime end of feb and early march.
